Ch-9
"High fever. We can't predict when sicknesses come and go, do we?" Arjun asked. He felt guilty for having to say this. How could he say that she was lying here because of the sudden shock her whole family gave her? And not to mention Rahul pressed that this marriage happens only if she likes it not with any force. Even he was disappointed but really doesn't want to stop this marriage. Somewhere, Arjun felt that this was good thing for Laya, and its right time for her to get married.
"I am disappointed," Rahul said in a low growl.
"I know... you are looking forward for this marriage with her. But this is something we haven't expected too," Arjun said with a sigh.
"I am disappointed at your family for not treating her well..." he growled at his friend.Arjun doesn't know how to retort. One thing was they were the reason for her current condition. And the other thing was, he really didn't understand why Rahul was blaming them for her sickness. Who knew she would take things this hard.
And not to mention, despite Rahul being four years younger than him, he carried himself with an air that was undeniably mature. After his brother passed away, Rahul handled everything on his own. In fact, Rahul started his startup, and it was booming. If not for his brother, he would be handling his own startup but not his family business. A man like Rahul was a great match Laya. That was why he doesn't want Laya to lose this match.
"What did our family do when her body got sick all of a sudden? Now our concern is dealing with the ceremony," Arjun said, making Rahul's head whipped in his direction."I thought you love her so much. You somehow resemble your dad," Rahul mentioned looking at him. Arjun was stumped at his words. He wanted to retort but on second thought he doesn't know how. This was why he says, Rahul was good at his words.
Rahul doesn't know but something really doesn't seem right. Why was it that it was everything seem odd? Why did she return just yesterday? Did she not like this marriage? This engagement was fixed one and a half month ago. All this time, he was stopped from texting her due to traditions. Or that was what Raghuram said.
When it's wedding, women like to shop everything to their liking but here it was opposite. She came to Hyderabad yesterday and was sick today. For some reason, his head even made theories of her being forced into the marriage. But Laya was not someone like that. She won't let things happen to her if she doesn't like it. Maybe it's really an unexpected sickness due to all jittery feelings of marriage. And not to mention the Pasupuleti's family, no matter how rich they were they were very orthodox family who follows the rules of their ancestors. Or let's say Raghuram makes sure that they were followed. That was also the reason, why no female from their family entered the business. Laya would be the first one to do it.
Despite all, Rahul felt that there was something Arjun was trying to hide from him. "You hid something from me," Rahul said, shifting his gaze to his woman. He walked towards her and sat beside her on the bed.
"You shouldn't touch her," Arjun commented.
"You brought me here in the first place ignoring those so-called traditions. You made your family agree to this marriage to be held in a week by ignoring those so-called traditions," Rahul snapped back ignoring his jabs. He knew... it's just his brother's protective stance against him.
Arjun was smart enough to shut his mouth. He wanted to divert the topic and he did it successfully... so... there was no need for him to dig his grave.
"But... that doesn't answer my question," Rahul reminded him, saying that he won't forget the question he asked."Rahul, you are just assuming things. What is there to hide at this point?" Arjun asked averting his gaze from Rahul to Laya.
Rahul wanted to ask more and say something but he can't. He decided to trust Arjun.
"Hmm.... I don't think you called me here just to see her like this. There must be some other reason for you to bring me here," Rahul said, exposing him again.
Arjun chuckled at his friend. He cannot hide anything from him.
"I want you to cancel the engagement," he asked dropping a bomb. What?!
"Never in my life," Rahul's straightaway reply came out of his mouth.
Who does he think he was to order him to cancel his marriage with his future wife. He would make sure that she would belong to him and he would show her proudly to the world as his. He wanted to claim her in front of the world and make this world jealous of him for having a gem of a wife like him.
And Also he wanted to pamper her, shower her with his love and make her drown in his world. He wants to make her the queen of his world and give his heart to her to control him and his heart. Never in this life nor in the afterlife he wants to leave her. He just doesn't want to live with her but become her life, her soul, and her breath. He felt like he would die if he waited for her more. This would do, right?
Maybe or maybe not be. Even if it doesn't he will make sure she would fall for him after their marriage. He knew she didn't have a boyfriend. But he will be her boyfriend, husband, friend, and everything she wants in this life except her brother.
Who in the right sense of mind wants to become the brother of his wife!? Impossible he would never become one.
She was the love of his life and his true soulmate in this life and the next life and her coming lives.
Feeling vexed at his soon-to-be brother-in-law, he looked at him with a warning look.
Arjun knew what he meant. And only then he realized that this silly man misunderstood him. Now it's his turn to feel vexed.
"How could you run a big business if you are this dumb?" Arjun said with a disgusted look on his face as he looked at Rahul.
"What do you mean?" Rahul asked in confusion.
"The literal thing. I asked you to cancel the engagement, not the marriage," he said with a sigh making Rahul frown.
