( hey I'm norah's friend lol, enjoy Reid simps )
It was late already. Norah and Prentiss were sent to a convention outside DC early this morning. They were supposed to give a speech on safety for all age citizens of America.
Norah's head was spinning with thoughts. Today was an overwhelming day, between 2-hour trips and the discussion of how bad sex traffic has gotten in the last five years... Sometimes the job was just a little too much.
As she entered the apartment and placed her keys on the counter, she didn't notice the sounds coming from her bedroom. Their bedroom. Sure, she didn't live alone, but Spencer wasn't one to make a fuss at this time of the night.
She grabbed a cup of water and detected an open window near the kitchen table. DC was freezing during this time of the year. It was only when she went to close the door that she noticed a litter box in the corner of the room.
Sure, Spencer would get home with one or two weird animals from time to time, arguing that he couldn't help but want to study new species every day, but this was completely out of the ordinary. Norah was caught off guard, and believe me when I say it took a lot of effort to impress her, be it in a good way or not.
It was only then that she heard a laugh coming from the bedroom. She knew the sound too well and couldn't help but smile. She would constantly dream about him and the way his smile and laugh took over the room, but he didn't do it often, for he wasn't taught happiness when he was a kid. Norah noticed that he never laughed in front of the others, although he did grin and smile at everyone every day. It was the most majestic sound she knew.
She quickly ran to their room and opened the door ajar. Oh but how she missed Spencer. Her sister, Clara, would always say that when two people loved each other, every minute away counted as torture. Not that Clara knew much about love except from one or two heartbreaks. He wasn't facing her when she entered the room, but she could just feel his smile. That's the type of power he held over people when he was happy, Spencer would just radiate a shiny and special aura.
When he moved a little to the side, she could see what was on top of the bed. It was as white as the bedsheets and probably the font of Reid's laughs. It looked at him with bright yellow eyes, and they quickly turned to watch Norah. In a way, the cat kind of reminded the girl of Spencer.
"OHMYGODISTHATACAT?" She always wanted a pet, but her dad, David Rossi, was just too harsh when it came to rules. When she moved out, she didn't have time to think about animals with all the pressure the new job came with.
"Do you like her?" Spencer turned, with the widest smile he could possibly have.
"Are you kidding me? LOOK AT HER! How can I not like her?" Norah, knowing a lot about animals, proceeded with caution. The cat kept looking at her curiously, she didn't want the animal to confuse her for a threat.
"I don't know..." He rubbed his neck like he always does when he feels nervous. "Maybe you weren't a cat person, like me."
Norah was now close to the kitty, who purred at her, expecting the girl to pet her snowball fur. She did.
"How could I not love something you do?" She said, holding the kitty in her arms.
Spencer cleared his throat "I don't know what you mean."
"I mean that we share the same heart, Reid. If you love something, I might as well adore it. Besides, I AM a cat person." Norah laughed.
He stared at her for a second. Norah didn't know this, but Reid thought she was the prettiest thing he has ever laid his eyes on. Not only that but his mind was filled with the thought that the only reason he chose this specific kitty is that the cat's golden eyes reminded him of her. Just as they reminded her of him. She was his ray of sunshine. The person who taught him happiness.
He got close to her, she was still holding the new family member. He analyzed her face one more time before kissing her forehead. A small gesture, but one that told her he loved her. "We still have to name her."
"Of course we do! It's my daughter we're talking about here, dude." She got a laugh out of him. "What do you think of Marshmallow?"
"Too basic!" They discussed names for the rest of the night. Both of them felt so happy that, if the whole world ceased to exist, they wouldn't have noticed it.
