SAGE
"You really don't have to come with me, y'know?" I half-complained as Eden loaded into the car with Luc and I.
"You're a self-centred little madam." He chuckled, "I've come to get to know Luc better, not you." Eden had been here a mere day and he was already acting like he'd never left.
"Here that, Sage?" Luc snickered from the driver's seat, "I'm the new favourite, you're past your peak."
We were going to the grocery store, just as I'd promised Asher the day prior, to get more food for the masters of the house. Though, I had a feeling we'd be buying an awful lot for ourselves, too, since Asher had given me one of his many credit cards.
"Don't think I won't make you crash this car, bud." I threatened, crossing my arms as I fell back into the middle seat. It hadn't escaped my mind that Eden had managed to snag the passenger seat, toying with the radio until he gave up and connected his phone instead.
Hozier's 'From Eden' started playing and I instantly knew he'd chosen it to make me smile and sing along. It was our shared favourite song during that summer 3 years ago, sneakily driving around in his grandpa's rusty Corsa and parking up on dusty backroads far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Eden was a hub filled with all my happiest memories.
I could remember the first time we'd listened to this particular song, what a beautiful time that had been.
"Awh, c'mon, dollface!" The tanned brunette turned around to smile at me as Luc drove down the estate's road, "I know you want to!"
Luc chortled, exiting the Cohen's land and indicating left, "Sage? Sing? She's a fucking autobot! The bitch doesn't sing."
"Hey!" I jokingly gripped his neck from behind, "I'm coming out of my shell, it just takes time."
"Has my pretty little thing over there gone all timid since I've been gone?" Eden tutted, making me heat up. He didn't look at me and see the reserved character most people did, because he'd never actually seen that side of me before. The man had a weird way of bringing out the best in me.
"Not at all." I crossed my arms, defiant as I stuck my tongue out.
"You child." He shook his head.
I could see Luc's shoulders shaking with silent laughter as the music blared, "I've never seen her like this before, man."
"Like wh—? Sage, the chorus!" Eden interrupted himself, hopeful eyes beaming at me before I huffed and nodded.
"HONEY, YOU'RE FAMILIAR, LIKE MY MIRROR YEARS AGO~~!"
"Argh!" Luc complained, "You're both tone deaf!"
Despite Luc trying and failing to cover his ears whilst driving, we continued to torture him, "I SLITHERED HERE FROM EDEN, JUST TO SIT OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR!"
I laughed when Luc being la-ing repeatedly, content and happy when Eden looked at me and winked. How I'd missed his presence.
"Okaaaay, so we need..." Luc trailed off, pointing his finger at the scrap of paper in his hands, "Butter, milk, eggs—"
"Are you plannin' on bakin' a cake, big guy?" Eden teased, resting his chin on my head and wrapping both strong arms around my shoulders.
