Maybe if she forced herself to move on. Maybe if she forced him out of her head. Maybe then, she wouldn't suffer from this God-awful disease. And for the past week, she succeeded in her task. That is until his family got back from their week-long vacation.
The minute she saw the Grey Volvo pull into the driveway of the house next to hers - her heart skipped not one, not two, but a few beats. Unlike other times, this time was different. As she stood by her window, waiting both patiently and impatiently - she didn't feel them lodging up her throat. And when he ducked out of his parents' car; clad in blue ripped jeans, an oversized black hoodie with the hood up and his favourite worn out Vans - she had a moment of peace and happiness. She sighed a sigh of love.. and then it came. She let out cough after cough, moving away from the window and the sight of her crush.
Her coughing gained volume and the petals fell continuosly. Beautiful baby pink flower petals. It started a year ago to both her shock and horror. Google brought uo reaukts of a disease called the 'Hanahaki Disease'. A myth. An angsty myth that was now her reality as long as she loved someone who did not return her affections. Only cured by the reciprocation of love or by genuinely falling out of love.
Option one, was completely out of the question, in her own very professional opinion. Option two, was just thrown down the drain as soon as the Pierce family came back home. She was not falling out of love with Kai Pierce anytime soon.
Which meant... Flower petals indefinitely.
