Hi again! This is the first chapter of the rewrite of Daddy Issues! Leave me a review and let me know if you like it!
Spencer Reid quickly put together a cup of coffee, pouring a conspicuous amount of sugar into the black mug. After the long, sleepless night he had, he figured he deserved it. He thought about his dream-well more of a nightmare really- as he made his way over to his desk.
He was wondering around in the dark for only a moment when he heard a scream. Instinctively, he grabbed for his Smith & Wesson Model 65 gun that he usually kept in a holster on his side. When his hand grazed his hip and grabbed at nothing but air, he swore under his breath and took off running towards the general direction he thought the scream must have come in. He was completely trusting on his FBI training and instincts.
He came to a dead stop when he noticed a man on the ground in front of him with a bird like creature standing above him, but it didn't look like any type of bird Spencer had seen before. He would know- he spends a lot of his free time bird watching. This bird had a long, proboscis-like tongue and was so thin he made even stick Spencer himself look buff.
In a split second, the creature lunged down at the man and Spencer bolted up in his bed. He was drenched in sweat. He could swear he could still hear the agonizing scream of the man on the ground.
The young doctor sighed and shook his head to straighten out his thoughts before carefully sitting his mug down on his desk. He caught the eye of his coworker Derek Morgan as he slid into his seat across from him and pulled the, already admittedly high, pile of daily files closer to him.
"Good morning Morgan." Spencer greeted, reaching up to push the hair out of his eyes. As he felt a headache form in the front of his head, he briefly wondered if it was time to get a haircut soon.
"Mornin'. You alright kid? You seem a little out of it." Derek frowned as he took in his friends appearance.
Spencer opened the first file and looked at the notes briefly before starting his report. "I'm fine. I just didn't sleep much last night is all."
Before Derek had a chance to question him further, he heard the door to the office open and glanced over to say goodmorning to whoever was coming in- most likely JJ who had to take Henry to school before coming to work- before promptly closing his mouth. It wasn't any of his coworkers but two men he had never seen before.
One looked to be in his mid-thirties with short ashy blonde hair and a muscular statue. The man next to him was quite a bit taller than the blonde one and had darker hair with brown eyes.
"May I help you?" David Rossi, another one of Spencer's coworkers, asked as he descended the stairs from Hotch's office.
"Yeah. Who's in charge here?" The taller one asked, shifting his weight from one leg to the other. On the outside he looked unaffected but Spencer could see how nervous he was. It was interesting to Reid that he such an expert at hiding it, if he wasn't a seasoned profiler he wouldn't have noticed at all.
Hotch chose that moment to walk out of his office, "That would be me," his left eyebrow rose as he took notice of the two unfamiliar faces in his squad room, "What can I do for you two?" We can stop asking the same questions over again, Spencer thought sarcastically but kept his mouth shut and kept on observing for the time being.
"We need your help." The shorter one grumbled under his breath, his voice deeper than Spencer would have expected from him.
Spencer chose that moment to stand up, "Why don't we all just go to the conference room? Do all of this at once." He suggested, picking up his coffee and taking a sip.
The tall one nodded, "Yeah. Uh, I'm Sam. This is Dean," He pointed to the blonde one as he introduced them as they made their way up the stairs and into the conference room at the end of the hall.
Everyone but Sam and Dean sat down at the round table in the middle of the room. JJ, having just came into the office and was ushered upstairs by Penelope Garcia, sat next to Reid and gave him a quick smile in greeting before turning to the newcomers. "First, let us introduce ourselves. I'm Jennifer Jareau but please just call me JJ."
"I'm Hotch, to my right is Agent Emily Prentiss then there's David Rossi, Derek Morgan, and Spencer Reid." Hotch introduced the rest of the team quickly, pointing out each person as he said their name.
"How old are you? You look a little young to be a fed." Dean asked Spencer, leaning back against the wall, and crossing his arms tightly across his chest. He was a lot more tense than Sam was, the young doctor noticed.
"I'm not that young." Spencer defended pathetically, being used to these questions being asked of him sadly.
Morgan sighed a little, knowing how difficult it was for Spencer to defend himself but he firmly believed the genius should be proud of who he was. He quickly interjected, "Reid here has an IQ of 187 and has an eidetic memory."
"So, what is it you needed our help with?" Emily asked eagerly, leaning forward in her seat and staring hard at the two men across from her.
"That's the thing- we are not completely sure. But we think it might be a vampire." The older brother said bluntly. The BAU team just stared at the two for a while, in apparent shock. Spencer had accidentally dropped his coffee mug on the ground in his shock. He sat there and stared at the brown stain as not only his headache got worse but the feeling in his gut, that he had been ignoring since his dream last night, worsened as well. What?
