Usually, Shinsou would absolutely adore a morning where he was left to wake up on his own, without an alarm.

But he knew who he lived with, and Eri would never let that slide.

Shinsou sat up in bed, groggily blinking away sleep as he slipped on a sweatshirt and tried to figure out why he was being allowed to sleep until eleven in the morning.
One of their cats, Cheez-it, had curled up on his bed, searching for warmth from the cold AC in the house. Shinsou gladly let her stay with him, petting around her neck as she purred into the touch.

It wasn't like he was ungrateful for the uninterrupted sleep. His friends had insisted that they get on a Discord call last night to celebrate his birthday, and he had ended up staying awake until about 4:30 in the morning. Usually, he went to bed by at most three, but Kaminari had insisted he stayed up because it was a special occasion. Sleep didn't come naturally to him anyways, so he figured why not.

"Can I get him up now?"

Shinsou perked up at the familiar whine outside his door. That meant that his dads had made Eri stay out of his room, which he was utterly grateful for.
He loved Eri, but she could be the worst in the morning. Especially if you didn't do what she wanted. Kaminari loved her, and always told him to lighten up whenever he complained about her. But he never had to actually live with her. There was a huge difference.

"Leave Hitoshi alone, Eri. Let him sleep."

Shinsou smiled as he heard Aizawa's voice. His dad usually hated how he stayed up making noise late into the night, but he figured that since it was his birthday, he resisted from letting Eri wake him up.
He contemplated staying in bed a bit more, possibly rolling over and sleeping for a bit more, but the smell of pancakes in the air made his stomach growl in protest. With one last pet to Cheez-it, he finally peeled back his sheets, throwing his legs over the side of his bed and slipping his feet into his fuzzy slippers. He got out of bed, his cat following close behind him.

His heart leaped as he went to leave his room, Eri sitting right outside and leaning on his door. She flopped over, and Shinsou had to jump to avoid stepping on her. She wasn't phased, though, only smiling up at him from her spot on the floor.

"Dad!" She called, voice echoing down the hallway, "Hitoshi's awake!"

With that, she took off running, her loud footsteps making him smile. He followed behind her, the sound of bacon frying getting louder as he approached the kitchen.

"There's the birthday boy!"

Yamada was sitting at the dining table, sipping on a cup of coffee while scrolling through his phone. The to-be-graded assignments that usually occupied the table space were on the floor, and a stack of pancakes were placed in the center. A handmade birthday banner that read "Happy Birthday!" was hung up on the breakfast bar, obviously made by Eri. Aizawa was at the stove, scooping the last bit of bacon out of a pan.

"Hey, come take this plate to the table." He said, holding out a plate to Shinsou.

He obliged, walking into the kitchen to grab the plate.
"Good morning." Aizawa said, pulling him into a side hug and ruffling his hair.

Shinsou placed the platter onto the dining table, taking a seat to the left of Yamada. Eri sat across from him, the plate in front of her already full with pancakes and eggs. The pancakes must have had at least half a can of whipped cream on it, complete with sprinkles.

"Daddy was dying while he was waiting for you to wake up." She said, preoccupied with a sprinkles bottle that she was meticulously shaking over her pancakes.
"Was not," Yamada snorted, "I think if anything, that was you, little E."
Eri stuck her tongue out at him, which he just returned. Aizawa walked up behind them, the apron he was wearing earlier discarded, and taking his place at the table.
"I can't tell which one's the 6 year old." He said, a cup of his own black coffee in hand.

Shinsou just chuckled, pulling pancakes and bacon onto his own plate.

"I swear, your dad was going to pull something waiting for you." Aizawa quipped, sipping at his mug.
Yamada gasped, a look of horror on his face.
"I can't believe both of you are ganging up on me!" He said, putting down his phone, "It's not my fault I'm an early riser! Shinsou would never do this to me."
"Hey!" Eri retorted, shaking the sprinkles over Yamada's plate. He grabbed the bottle out of her hands, sprinkling more onto her own plate.
"Hey, Eri," Aizawa said, interrupting the current sprinkle war going on at the other end of the table, "Can you turn on something to watch?"

He pointed to the small TV hanging on the wall, and Eri nodded, shaking one last handful of sprinkles onto Yamada's plate and running to the living room to find the remote.
"So, Hitoshi," Yamada spoke up, "What do you want for a birthday dinner tonight?"
"It's only breakfast and you're already thinking of dinner?" Aizawa smirked, cutting into pancakes he put on his plate.
Yamada just ignored him, looking at Shinsou with an expectant look. He just shrugged, taking a bite of bacon.

"Whatever is easiest for you two." He said. He hated bothering his dads with stuff. He'd rather let them use their energy on giving Eri whatever she wanted.
"It's your birthday!" He exclaimed, "There has to be something that you want."

Well, there was something.

"Maybe just ordering a pizza and watching movies?" He asked quietly, hoping he didn't come off as needy.
"That's it? No party? Nothing?" Yamada asked, eyebrows raised.
Shinsou shook his head, chewing on a bite of pancakes. Suddenly, the TV on the wall turned on, Eri coming up behind them.
"Can Denki come too, Daddy?" She asked, flicking through Hulu.
Shinsou turned to Aizawa, who had a grimace on his face. Yamada kicked him lightly under the table, and Aizawa kicked him back.
"If Shinsou wants him there." Yamada said, staring menacingly at Aizawa, who just rolled his eyes at the cold glare.
"Can I?" He asked, perking up a bit at the chance of seeing his boyfriend. Yamada nodded enthusiastically.
"You can invite any of your other friends over, too. The ones that you stay up all night talking to?" Aizawa quickly said. He guessed it was to soften the blow. He knew how much he loathed having Kaminari over.
"I'll see if they can come over." He said, turning his attention to the TV which was now playing one of the old episodes of Sailor Moon. Aizawa and Yamada also turned their attention away from him and to the TV, the nostalgic theme song getting their attention.

Eri returned to her seat, singing along as Yamada cut up her pancakes. Shinsou smiled as he chewed his own pancakes, realizing they were birthday cake flavored.
