Peter
"Happy Birthdayyy to youuuuu!~" Aunt May sang as she popped confetti poppers over Peter's head, clapping. The now 18 year old sat at the dining table, covered in blue and red confetti with a Spider-Man cake in front of him.
"..thaankkksss Aunt May, but.. why Spider-Man?" He asked, suspicion running through his veins hoping she hadn't found out about him and his whole second life thing."You have so many drawings of Spider-Man and stuff, isn't it great? Buuuutttt" she dragged on in a sing-Songy voice and sat down next to Pete as he began cutting the cake, "Guess what came in the mail?" She smiled widely.
Peter paused between enormous bites of the delicious cake Aunt May makes only once in a while, looking up at her curiously as she whipped out two envelopes."What's that?" The boy asked, taking the envelopes and reading where it's stamped from.
"Your science teacher recommended you to two colleges and both of them sent invitation letters! Isn't it great?!" She shifted in her seat excitedly, Peter swallowing the huge chunk of cake in his mouth and quickly rising from his seat. His face was painted with disbelief, excitement, and extreme happiness.
"Oh my god, seriously?!" He smiled, opening the envelopes one by one quickly but carefully as to not rip the contents inside. Aunt May stood up and pulled him into a tight hug which he quickly returned."I'm so proud of you, Pete" she pulled away to cup his face gently, Peter still quite shocked at his invitations to the two highly ranked colleges.
"Thanks Aunt May, It'll be tough choosing" he mentioned looking down at the papers.
"Oh don't you worry Petey, you have tons of time to decide your graduation is still weeks away. You should get some rest" she advised, lifting the cake and putting it away for tomorrow. He nodded and gave her a kiss on the cheek before heading up to his room, placing the papers on his bed side table. He tugged his shirt off over his head, flopping down on his bed and closing his eyes. He was so tired from today, at least, he thought he was until he found himself not being able to pass out like he planned to. He didn't usually have trouble sleeping, especially since he had the whole Spider-Man thing that meant he sometimes wouldn't sleep for days at a time. He groaned, turning to the papers and scanning them. His stomach was in a knot as he was overcome with anxiety, thinking about his future, what would happen to Aunt May.
Everything was too stressful, too stressful to just sit and deal with it. He made sure Aunt May was asleep before he put on his suit and silently hopped out of the window, thwipping his way through the cold, dark, streets of New York. He was illuminated by the city lights as he swung by, occasionally waving to those who saw him pass by and that wasn't calling him a menace. He swiftly landed on top of a building, sitting on the edge with his feet hanging off lost in his thoughts. There were so many choices that would effect the path of his future, so many people he could lose and meet, and the imminent fate of Aunt May..
A sudden voice behind him sent his train of thought flying off its rails,
"Wow, I mean I knew we were going to meet eventually but I didn't think it would be me interrupting your existential crisis."
The spider quickly stood up, turning around in alert. He wasn't too used to being snuck up on considering his spidey sense which failed to warn him about the red suited man across from him. "Jumpy are we?" The man approached him, laughing."Who are you?" Spider-Man asked slowly, curious. He held his hand out to Spider-Man, who began to return the favor when the hand smacked up into his chin.
"Pool, Dead. And you're the famous Spider-Man!" A happy expression showed through Deadpool's mask as Spider-Man rubbed his chin, giving him an uncertain look before remembering a certain Iron man mentioning his name.
"Ohh, Mr. Stark said something about you once!" Spider-Man said with light bulb tone. Once, yeah right! More like a million times of him telling Spider-Man not to go near him, but it wasnt like Spider-Man was going to remember."My reputation proceeds me" Deadpool joined him on the edge of the building where Spider-Man sat back down.
"What are you doing here?" Spidey asked, swinging his feet off the building while Deadpool pulled out a shitty crayon drawing of what looked to be him shooting some stickman guy in the head.
"I'm looking for this guy, real asshole, gotta do some business with him" he whispered, Spider-Man was suddenly distracted by a tingling and buzzing around his head.He shot his head around to reveal a masked thug, he quickly shot him down with the impact of his webs sticking him to a wall bump out on the roof. "Wow! You found him for me!" Deadpool got up, pinching Peters cheek through his mask "how nice of you Spider-Man!"
He walked to the thug, ripping the mask off of him and cracking his knuckles. "Hey! He can't do anything now, let's just-"
Deadpool cut Spidey off, nodding.
"Yeah you're right, too cliche. I'll just stick with the usual," he began, pulling his gun out quickly and finishing him with three shots to the head.Spider-Man froze, watching the guys corpse flop down as the webs released. "What did you do that for?!"
"What? Wasn't that what you were gonna say?" DP slipped his gun back into his holster.
"No! I was gonna say we should call the cops!" Spidey gagged at the sight as sirens approached.
"Oh great, the fuzz is on us. Quick spider boy, thwip us away!" Deadpool latched onto Spider-Man. Spider-Man gave him an unimpressed look, DP looking back at him. "What? Isn't that your thing?" Another moment of silence followed before Spider-Man looped his arm around Deadpool's waist."It's Spider-Man." He huffed, swinging them a good distance away from the gorey crime scene and letting go of the mercenary.
"WOO! That was some height we got, you do that every day? I usually travel by taxi, sucks when there's traffic"
"Why did you kill that guy?! Are you crazy?!"
"Okay, one because that guy ruined my life. And honestly I didn't expect him to show up so easily. Two, yes, and three, killing people is my job Webhead" Deadpool explained indifferently, Spider-Man sighing and turning away."I've got too much on my hands right now, I can't deal with this" spidey shot oht a web and began to swing when he was pulled back abruptly by an entity wrapping their arms around his legs.
"Like what? I bet I could help, considering you did me a favor" he gently pulled him back down, the web snapped and Spidey giving up.
"It doesn't involve killing anyone, so I doubt you could help." He muttered, glaring at him. Deadpool sat down on the edge of the building,
"Okay, though a very good one of mine, killing isn't my only skill. So shoot" he said, chuckling a bit to himself after. "Heh, shoot.""Well.." Spider-Man shook his head, joining him on the edge and staring down at the passing cars and occasional yells of 'I'm walkin here!'. "I've been accepted into these two colleges but I don't know which one to go to. The supposedly better one is further away, and considering how busy I'd be I won't have any time to see my family." He vented, Deadpool nodded.
"Well I never really got the chance to go to college, but what I do know is that I would consider what's so much better about that school that makes the other one not worth going to" Deadpool advised, almost sounding like a serious character for a moment."Yeah.. I could try thinking about it that way." Spidey muttered to himself, watching his own feet swing.
"College then huh? How old are you, seriously I thought you were someone's child in a costume" he teased, Spider-Man rolling his eyes.
"I actually just turned eighteen today." He answered, Deadpool leaning forward to look at him.
"Oh shit! If I knew that I would've spared you having to see me blast that guys brains out!" DP laughed, patting him on the back. "Must've been a pretty eventful birthday party, it's late pipsqueak, go back home to your mommy so she can read you a bed time story" he saluted him, getting up. Spider-Man quickly followed,"Wait.. will you be here tomorrow?" The boy muttered quietly, like a little girl asking their crush to hang out.
"Maybe, I'll be around. And if you don't find me, I'll find you" he nudged Spidey's shoulder before zapping himself back home. Pete slowly pulled his mask off, taking a breathe before putting it back on and swinging home.
