Aphrodite's POV
"What? What do you mean?"
What is he saying? I can't go back? Why?
Hermes is just standing in front of us, and he's like checking the whole place. Judging by his looks, he wants to go out as soon as possible. I'm right, he's a clean freak. I knew it.
"You disobeyed the laws as a goddess. One of the orders is the prohibition to speak to a mortal." Hermes didn't even look at William.
"Wait, does father know this? I can always talk to him-"
"It's your father's order, Aphrodite."
I'm surprised.
So father knew I descended. I know what I did is wrong. It's one of those old-fashioned rules that the oldest god ever made. No god or goddess is allowed to have direct contact with humans.
And I just disobeyed it. How can father overlook it? Of course, he won't do it. I'm doomed.
Hermes opened the scroll that he's been holding since he arrived. He begins reading it.
"Aphrodite, Goddess of Love, you are to be punished for disobeying the law. You have to stay in the mortal world for 1 year."
"One year?!" I exclaimed.
"One year, in the mortal calendar." Hermes corrected. I sighed in relief. One year in mount Olympus is like a hundred years here. I'm just glad it's only like that.
"Included with this, your power will be decreased to 50% of its original form."
"50%?!!!" I can't believe it! Father, this is too much.
"And another one-" there is more?
Hermes looks straight at me.
"Lord Zeus ordered you, to fix this human." He points at William.
"What? Me?" William on the other hand is much more confused. Did he even sober up? If only he didn't fail last night. Why do I want to strangle him right now? It's all his fault.
"Fix? Who do you mean? He's not broken. He's totally fine, Hermes, can't you see?" I'm ready to confront my father if they will give me a chance.
I saw how Hermes shakes his head. "No Aphrodite, this is where you got to fix him." Hermes points to his chest. "You need to fix him here."
His heart? I look at William, and his confused look matches mine.
Sometimes we really don't understand the sky god, the way he thinks, and the way how he sees things. Father, what is your plan?
William's POV
It's been a day since the guy Hermes visited her. I still can't believe that those things in fantasy books are all true. Greek mythology is not really my interest when I'm still studying. I usually see them in movies or books. I find it weird that I'm looking at the real thing now.
Aphrodite is still pissed, I can feel it. She's having a silent battle with herself about what she has to do.
So basically, her main problem is me. Fixing me while I'm totally fine. Is that possible?
Perhaps something is wrong with me. And I didn't know it.
She's still standing beside the open window, her hair is a bit messy and her eyes are fixed looking at the sky. With her serious face, you'll think that she's the goddess of war rather than the goddess of love. Her face says it all.
