I glumly starred out the window. The radio was on quiet leaving me and Ms.Black in an awkward silence. The trees passed by and i became more curious of where this house was. My new home for hopefully the next two years then i can go where ever i want. Yep that's my plan so far.
The car pulled in front of a pair of gates tall and shiny a little guards house sat next to it. Ms.Black rolled down her window and leaned over she hit the side of the car alerting the sleeping guard of our presence. Jumping he knocked over his coffee cup and spilled it on his lap.
"Ah fuck!" he jumped and with surprising speed for his rather over weight figure graped a napkin and swatted at the spreading stain which now made it look like he had soiled himself. I smiled slightly at his misfortune not feeling sorry it was his own fault for falling asleep. Did he think no one was going to be coming through, We would all just stay in our houses and hide just because he was asleep.
After that thought i felt slightly guilty,i shouldn't be laughing at this guy just because i was having a bad day. He finished cleaning himself and looked up to glare at us.
"Can i help you ma'am" he sneered.
"Yes, we are here to see Ann Mcnaynes" He flicked through his list. Turning the page and scanning down. Taking his pudgy little finger he tapped the a spot grunting. Without saying a word he pressed a button and the gates swung open slowly with a buzz. Ms.Black stepped on gas and we went through.
As we passed the houses and i felt my jaw drop they were huge! Now they were not mansion but they were about 3 stories and looked like they had plenty of room. They were painted white with the front garden neatly clipped and flower beds arranged beautifully. we kept driving till we pulled up to one in piratically.
I inwardly smiled the house was... different to the rest instead of being one the clone house the house was a warm cream colour that looked like needed to be touched up the door was open and a there was porch with a swing on it. Toys and bikes lay across the lawn an the grass was slightly overgrown the flower bed well it was a mess the flower had been pulled out and there was holes dug everywhere.
Stepping out of the car i realised i liked this house way more then i should i guess it had more character i guess. stepping out i turned to Ms.Black.
"Its nice" I commented talking for the first time since she had picked me up from the police station. We had an unspoken arrangement i didn't bother trying to make awkward, useless conversation and she would not try lecture or bring up any incidents i have been in.
"Glad you like it maybe this time you will actually be able to stay here" She said to me and waved me off. I frowned at the comment and i went around to the back and grapped my suit case and bag pack.
Walking up ms.black nearly tripped over a toy and nearly fell on her face i looked away trying to hide my smile. Even though we had a silent agreement it didn't mean that i liked her i wouldn't go as far as to say i hate her but part of the reason was anytime we met it was because of some bad reason.
It started when i was three dropped off outside a park,by my bitch of a mother left me.i remember when she opened the car door lifted me up under my arms sat me on the path kissed me forehead turned and got back in to drive away no words no nothing just dropped me off.
luckily an old couple happened to be walking along and saw me crying with a little princess bag pack slumped outside the front gate. after learning that my mam had left me there and drove off they called child protective services.
And that was the first time i met Ms.Black i remember sitting in that room waiting thinking they were going to find my mam and bring her back to me. But no the door opened to reveal Ms.Black fresh out off college and fresh on the job she wore a kind smile and gently explained how she was going to take my case and how she was going to find me a nice family to live with. And then as 13 years wore by and mess after mess went by we kinda just grew to... well not like each other. I guess that's the only way you could put it.
