Year 2112 (Blake)

"When is he going to wake up?" a voice questioned in the distance; the voice was slightly feminine sounding but deep enough to tell it was a pre-teen boy who had not gone through puberty. "Not sure, he's been like that for days. He took a huge impact from his transformation, it's quite abnormal." This feminine tone resounded throughout the building. A girl, most likely in her teens. Transformation? What transformation? Their conversation doesn't make any sense. My body felt heavy and almost as if I had taken a 100-year nap. My eyelids slowly began to lift; my vision was incredibly blurry. The big yellow ball in the sky (the sun) greeted me with its light from the roof light above. Something feels off, but I can't seem to recall it. I was in a warehouse? The roof was painted green as moss around the river banks, and the walls had old-fashioned wallpaper with red, moss green, and white. I turned my head and then rotated it at an angle to get a good look at my surroundings.

The boy approaches me looking amused, "Enjoying your new home?" he asks. New home? I can't think back to where I lived before. Was I kidnapped? "I can't exactly enjoy it when two people are watching me sleep. Why was I asleep anyways? All I remember is hanging out with Lily." The boy laughs. "We didn't have a choice, it was our boss' orders. And I'm not sure. Our boss found you near the border lying unconscious, so he took you in. Be grateful, you brat." The border? What was I doing at the fucking border? He fluffs his curly dark brown hair with his right hand and continues with, "Who is this Lily girl anyway? Is she your girlfriend or something?" The girl chuckles. And I couldn't help but blush a little. I quickly respond with "NO! She's my best friend from back home." The girl walks up to the wooden box I'm sitting on and sits down in front of it. "Back home? Where are you from exactly?" Should I be honest or should I lie my way out of this? I'm not even sure where I am. For all I know, I could easily fuck this up. Honesty is the best policy, according to Lily, so I'll speak my truth. "I don't remember where I'm from..."

I was hesitant to tell them everything; they were strangers after all. They slowly clap their hands, look at each other and proceed to laugh hysterically. "Sorry I didn't ask sooner, but what are your names?" I know it was an off-topic question, yet I still asked. They both compose and introduce themselves, the girl goes first. "I'm Selene, and over here is my annoying ass younger brother, Peter." "I'm not annoying Sel! I'm only a year younger than you!" Selene shakes her head in disagreement. "Please, you make the Griffin household look rough compared to the other two main noble families." Peter chimes in and adds, "That's not true," he sighs and murmurs sarcastically under his breath, "Spoiled princess." 2 other main noble families? So that means they are one themselves. Last I checked, the Griffin family was never prominent in Eden. Surely I haven't been asleep for that long.

Vaguely, I could see the door open straight ahead of me. A foreign boy held up the door with a middle-aged man behind him. "Oh, so he's awake" the foreign boy's voice echoed across the warehouse. Surprisingly, he doesn't have an accent; on the contrary, he's speaking an entirely different language and I seemed to understand every bit of it. I must be hallucinating, I'm dreaming. This isn't real. Those are the words that are repeated in my mind in a never-ending cycle. While in a daze, he approaches me with a confident and puzzled look on his delicate face. He lifts his left hand and takes a swing at my face. Did he just slap me? I was in awe, this bitch thought he had the audacity to slap me. He reaches into his pocket and grabs a box of old cigarettes along with a lighter; before lighting his cigar he asks me "What brings you here? No person in their right mind would dare to cross the border." His facial expression tells me he's desperate for an answer. Tell the truth. "If I'm being honest, I have no idea. I don't even know how I ended up so far near the border anyways. Celine is at least 1,000 miles away from the nearest border crossing." I chuckled a little in my attempt to make the conversation more light-hearted. Peter, Selene, the foreign boy, and the middle-aged man all stare at me in disbelief. "Hold on, what did you just say again..." Peter questioned. "I already told you earlier, I don't know why I'm here," I repeated slowly, so he wouldn't misunderstand. "No, not that part. What did you say about Celine?" Why does he care about Celine? It's the capital city of Eden. Everyone regarding their status has been there at least once in their life.
