Frantically, I retraced my steps and eventually made it home.

I fumbled with my keys at the front door, kicking it after unlocking it to run up a flight of stairs, when finally I burst into my room.
My backpack was thrown across my room, hitting the metal trash can, spilling both of their contents, mixing my school junk and regular junk together.
I collapsed onto my bed face first, recollected my breath. Then, I turned over to check my phone once again.

5:50

I groaned, placing both hands to my face.

How did I take this much time? I knew I had homework to do, yet I still felt the need to explore. Man, I'm not getting any sleep tonight after all

I rolled off my bed and reluctantly went for my bag. I must not have been paying attention because I ended up grabbing the bottom of it, fully letting out my stuff.
I stomped angrily, bending down, frantically trying to separate my paperwork from the ones I threw out. With my hand shuffling things around, I uncovered the game.

I stopped.

Again, I slid my hand over it, brushing everything aside and placed it on my desk and finished cleaning up.

Afterwards, I sat at my desk and opened the case, which I should have done beforehand.
The disk was still in. I held it in front of me, letting the light hit it.
It was semi-holographic, pink with the two silhouettes of the boy, one being a dark pink while the other was more maroon. Both were holding out their hands, standing with their chests pressed together. One holding their hand in a welcoming way, the other in a claw like formation.
The light started to seep through the newly revealed scratches.

I frowned, putting the disk down and tapping it slightly as I began to think.

Does it work?
I mean, it was in a junk pile...

Only one way to find out.

I stood up to open my computer's CD tray, but stopped before pressing the button when I caught a glimpse of my homework.

Plenty of time, I thought, this game can't be that good. I can just stop whenever I feel like it.

Surprisingly, the game was still compatible with the system despite its condition.

I made myself comfortable as the game started up.

The company's name appeared on the monitor before fading away to show the options menu on a light pink screen.

-Start
-Quit
-Settings

I pressed start and a cutscene followed.
A pixelated blue sky was shown before panning down to show a birds eye view of blue and white school. Shots making their way down flashed quickly, all with more and more cherry blossom petals floating the closer the ground got into view. The front of the school's door appeared, as the front cover art boy came in with a bright flash, switching between being upset and happy. His hair was blowing in the wind, bringing in even more petals as the game's name finally flashed.

What was this guy's name again? I briefly reread the game description.

So, Senpai, huh?

That's a dumb name.

I looked up to see the game screen had changed to show a school hallway. A character appeared, with a blue-purple uniform with a pink neck bow, their face and hands were a light purple, allowing the player to better protect themselves on them.

Some stats appeared on the right as a text box presented itself.

Hello my name is -

As the "-" flickered, I punched in my name.

Hello my name is Y/N, and I finally made it to one of the most prestigious schools! It was incredibly challenging but I'm happy to get a fresh start here! I didn't work as hard as I wanted to at my old one but I hope I can-

Impatiently, I repeatedly mashed buttons to skip the opening dialogue. I didn't really care what kind of person I was going to be in this game, I just wanted to see something interesting.

I must have misclicked something because the background changed to that of a classroom and a flash of purple went off.
Then, Senpai appeared, drawn unpixelated. He was on the floor against a desk, hand covering half of his face in anger while the other resting on some fallen books.

It shifted, showing Senpai's game sprite with messy hair as he looked at me in spite, clutching a jacket.

Watch where you're going, you worm!

Ah I'm so sorry! I didn't see you, I was just-!

You didn't see me, huh? You really didn't? I knew newbies where dumb, but not that dumb, his sprite shifted to one of him holding his hand infront of his mouth in a snobby way. Because of that one mess up I'm going to make sure you never graduate!

He faded off screen and the game gave me -100 points, wilted flowers fell in front of the screen.
My stats began to flicker.
One labeled "friendship points" turned red, while the other one labeled reputation turned yellow.

How am I already losing?
