A million worlds apart, sharing one bed

(No this is not the one bed trope.)

Both of the boys ached to see each other from the moment that they woke up. They spent the entirety of their work day thinking of each other. They worked with the strength of 2 men, hoping against hope that they would finish work early. It wasn't long before Octavius finished his training.

Octavius was lost in thought. there was no doubt of his feelings, but there was hesitation. How could he fall for someone like that? Of a different class and a different world? No. He would not even indulge the idea. He banished it immediately.

He would not wrap himself up in love with that southern charm. He would not catch himself encased in another man when he was so far into his career. He was a military commander. How could he distract himself with such worldly things as a pretty blonde boy? He could not, that's how.

Nevertheless, he hopped the divider in their exhibit to see the man he found himself so enamoured with.

Jedediah was out in the sun, and shirtless at that. The sweat on his body shone in the light, highlighting the ripples in his muscles with every hammer strike. His body was chiseled, but not buff. The sort of lean muscle that could make anyone crazy.
His arms though, god his arms. They were bulging and vieny.
His shoulders were broad, and his clothes were barely containing all of him.
"Hey Jed! There's a pretty boy here to see you! " a railroad worker jeered
"What the hell 'r you doing here! " exclaimed the rancher, ignoring his coworker.
Jed dropped his work and walked with the man.
"I just wanted.. To see you. "
Jed blushed a bit
"Can I invite ya over fer a drink?"  He quieried, a bit flustered.
"I'd love that" was all Octavius could choke out.
They walked to Jed's little make shift home. Jed poured some whiskey into a few dingy glasses and quietly took a drink out of his.
"You do excellent work" said Octavius, breaking the silence.
"What? Just working the rail. That ain't hard"
"Oh I know.. " said Octavius, failing to elaborate.
"Well you're some fancy military general, if that ain't great work I don't-"
"Oh I was born into it. It isn't anything impressive."
"Octavius can I ask you something? "
Octavius' mind began to race. What was he going to ask? Was he going to ask about the incident? About his feelings?
"Yes, go ahead. "
Jed took a deep breath.
"Why did you come to see me today?"
"I told you, I wanted to see you. "
"But.. Why? "
Octavius took a big gulp of whiskey, wincing a bit.
He opened his mouth to speak, but the words got caught in his throat.
"You're- I mean"
"I'm sorry.
" what? "
"I'm sorry, Octavius." He said sheepishly
"I'm not.. Good with words but... For what it means... I think you're somethin' special. And 'm sorry I'm not. "
Octavius sat there in silence for a moment.
"No. Don't- I mean. I think you're special too. "
He blushed.
"I think you're strong, and tough, and somewhat attractive, and I want... To be -something- with you. "
Octavius took a deep breath before continuing
"You're everything I wish I could be. I want you to be mine, if that makes sense. I want you to-"
But then Jedediah kissed him. Just a tiny kiss on the lips. Barely even there.
"Octavius, I've been hidin' away since you got here, but damn. I've wanted you since I first saw you. I think now's the first time I've ever even admitted it to myself. "
But even before Octavius could respond, the sun rose above the horizon, freezing them in an instant.

(I know this one is short, I'm working on the next one ASAP.)
