He walked straight past the dead tree and kept walking. He could see the car and where he first started this whole game just down the path and was almost to it when the man walked in front of him. He appeared out of nowhere. John yelped and stumbled back, falling on the ground. He crawled backwards as the man slowly walked towards him. He jumped to his feet and ran. The masked man was right behind him. John got back to the two vehicles before he was pushed against the truck. The rust came off as a powder onto his hoodie and as he turned around, the man was in front of him.
"I played you're god damn game! Are you happy!" John shouts and the man makes no sudden movements. John is terrified, his heart racing. He notices under the white mask a face. His knees go weak as he inhales a sharp breath. "Pete?" He asks just above a whisper.
"Thanks for playing." It was Pete's voice beneath the mask. Before John could react, Pete raised a gun and shot him in the side of the head. John's lifeless body slumped down to the ground against Pete's dads old Chevy. He placed the gun into John's hand, making it look like a suicide.

Pete always won.
