Cabbage guy’s POV

It was an average day in Omashu as I stood proudly by my cabbage cart, their green leafs shimmering in the sun. I had worked hard to acquire these wonderful  vegetables and now was our chance to show off, for all of the glory to be cast upon my glorious cart and I. Civilians walked through the marketplace, smiles spread across their faces. The obvious reason for their joy being my precious cabbages, the candy and sickening sweet aroma being a simple coincidence. This all changed when the avatar attacked…

Faint yelling was heard in the distance, causing curiosity from everyone in the area. I alone knew what was going to happen. The avatar was in Omashu. The yelling became louder as I frantically pushed my cart in the other direction, trying to go as fast as possible without dropping my precious cabbage. ‘You won’t hurt us this time, Avatar. My children will stay as pristine as always,’ I thought as I made my way down the road. The avatar was fast approaching, causing my clothing to become damp with sweat. I quickly glanced behind me to see a large crowd of people running in my direction. Oh no. I was trampled by the crowd of people, my once gorgeous cabbages turning into bruised piles of green mush. The enormous pain running through my body becoming unimportant according to my children laying half dead in the dirt. The avatar arrived at last, followed by a group of guards, giving my cabbages and I one last bruising before leaving us alone and deserted. There I laid, bruised and bleeding, mourning over my lost cabbage.

Aang’s POV

I heard a howl of pain as I ran down the streets of Omashu, trying my best to get away from the guards. I eventually escaped them by ducking into an alleyway, breathing hard and trying to calm my heart rate. There was cabbage mush and dirt all over my clothes, but no obvious signs of damage. My thoughts eventually wandered back to the sobbing and howling I heard earlier, causing a shiver to run down my spine. The crying was something of true sadness and I couldn't help but feel guilty. What if I seriously hurt someone? I couldn’t deal with that so I quickly made the decision to go back and help the crying man.

I quickly made my way back to the market street to find an old man crying in the street, running a green goop through his fingers. “Uh, sir? Are you okay?” I asked cautiously, walking towards the man. He suddenly looked up at me, an evil glare on his face. It’s him. The cabbage guy. “You did this to my beautiful cabbages! You’ll pay for this, Avatar!” The cabbage guy yelled, quickly getting to his feet and approaching me. I looked down at the ground nervously, rubbing at my upper arm. “I-I’m sorry, Mr. Cabbage guy,” I muttered quietly.

Cabbage Guy’s POV

I raised my hand to the Avatar, my mind only processing one thought. Revenge. I was going to receive my vengeance over the Avatar, after all this time and lost cabbages, I will avenge their deaths. Before I laid my hand on the boy, I noticed a small shine reflect off of the bender’s bald scalp. It reminded me of my cabbages and the soft gleam that they produced. Instead of slapping the young Avatar, I stroked his bald head, causing a soft gasp to emit from the boy. I slowly pulled my hand away and bent down to the ground, picking up the green mush in my hand before slowly rubbing it across the avatars shinny head. My cabbage, it has returned to me. The bender looked up at me, his eyes wide with fear as I continued to rub the cold substance across his head, only stopping when the entire surface was covered.

Aang’s POV

I watched the cabbage man, terrified yet intrigued by his actions. “C-Cabbage man?” I asked in a whisper, secretly enjoying the sensation on my scalp. He smiled down at me, showing is crooked teeth before placing a kiss to my lips. It felt strange and wonderful all at once, my hesitation only lasting a moment before I kissed back.

Cabbage guy's POV

I lingered against the airbenders lips a few moments before pulling away, offering him a warm smile. Slowly, I bent down to the young boys ear. "I love you, my dear cabbage bender," I whispered softly before picking him up swiftly and placing him in my cart. I pushed him off into the sunset. Forever mine, cabbage bender
