Brittany POV:

The closer I got to him the more of his pain I felt.  He was asleep but he was moaning quietly in pain. He still had the same clothes on from the other day when he left my place; light blue ripped jeans and a black sports bra. And there was the faint smell of blood lingering in the room.

"Imma kill his fuckin bitch ass a swear!! Just wait til I get my hands on him." Lincoln says growling behind me. Apparently, Kat knows what we are because she has this sad smile on her face as she watches Lincoln pace back and forth.
"Now Linc... Remember the promise we all made! Regardless of how bad it is we can't do anything to him. Not yet anyway." Kat says placing her hand on my shoulder.
"Here sweetie." She says handing me a tissue. Apparently, I was crying the whole time and didn't realize it.
I move closer to the bed examining Rome's sleeping figure and I let a vicious growl out on accident.  It causes him to shift and whimper but not wake as tears run down his face.

Bruises cover most of his abdomen at this point.  On the right side of his face, he has a black eye and on the left he has a half-swollen jaw. There's a gash going down his left side that has been stitched up. Along with another going down the right side of his face. But it looks like one of his ribs broke through the skin from the location. Which means that had to physically be put back into place.

"Come... Sit... You have much to learn about your mate." Kat says motioning to the love seat across the room as Lincoln is still pacing back and forth. I'm guessing trying to calm himself down.

"First off, I'm not human like you may think. I'm a Siren. Destiny's mother hired me to protect her I mean him from himself and teach him how to control his wolf. Being born the child of an Alpha as you may know you all tend to be more... powerful than others. Seeing as you need to be ready to be next in line to take over your packs. With Destiny though it is different I'm not sure why.... he's more powerful than you think. Maybe because he was 1 of 2 survivors of a full-blown annihilation or maybe it's just the type of wolf he is. But whatever the case may be, his mother knew he needed help learning to control his temper and his shifts. Especially since he was going to be going to school with humans."

"Wait... what do you mean by the type of wolf he is?" I ask her...

"He has to show you that my dear. His mother had a hunch that her husband was beating him but never had actual proof. He was only with her for the money thinking he had outsmarted her, not realizing that he would only have partial control of everything. Destiny will get it all when he graduates college, being the sole heir to his father and packs fortune. This is the reason why he gets beat the way he does. Since the day Jerome found out that he would receive everything... He broke his arm that day, pushed him down the stairs. But when everyone started asking questions he lied and got Destiny to lie as well. So, he started finding ways that there would be no visible marks that he was being abused." I listen intently as Linc is growling lowly. His pacing has finally stopped now he's just leaning on the doorframe listening as Katrina tells us everything.

"But what Jerome did not plan on was Destiny confiding in me and telling and showing me every scratch and bruise that was left unaccounted for. That's originally why he started playing sports. But before then he would fight. Fight any and every one that would go along with his mess. He'd fight to release that energy. Fight to hide the bruising. Fight to have a voice." Rome whimpers silently in the background and they both just glance in his direction with sad eyes. I Fight to hold the tears back as his pain is suffocating me at the moment, but I need to hear the rest of his story. Before I make any sudden movements or try to help in any way

"He turned into this bully with an unfair advantage. Knowing that he could easily overpower his opponents."

"That is until I offered him to come spar with me and others like me at my pack. To give himself a real challenge as I presented the idea to him. But really, I just didn't want him to kill anyone else. He was getting out of control and always at the brink of shifting." Linc explains never really looking an anyone's direction
