Sometimes the bleeding didn't last long. Sometimes it would be like little trickles of blood just seeping from a tiny scratch. Other times it was gushing blood. My wrist must be filled up with cuts by now.
"Alexis?"
The world swirled around in a blur of bright paint colors. Suddenly, Evelyne appeared in front of me. Her bright purple hair and snakebites shimmered under the ultraviolet lights in the room.
"I'm sorry..." I hung my head and let my hair cover my face.
"Why? I was gunna ask if you wanted me to help you..." She pointed to my glow in the dark painting.
"oh, no thank you.." I murmur and Evelyne smirks, pulling my hair back from my eyes.
"What's wrong Alex?" she smiles sweetly and I can't help but laugh against the beautiful smile forming upon her lips.
"I can't help but think about last year.." I pause.
"Why would you want to think about something like that?" She asks, placing her brushes down, crouching down to be able to look up at me.
"It just.... I don't know.."
"Hey.. hey... I didn't mean to make you upset. Look at me." Evelyne's gentle eyes seems to convince me to calm down.

The heaving breaths i am taking are growing harder, stronger. My fingers suddenly wrap around hers, squeezing tightly.

I love her. She is my best friend. Six years ago she and I met within the Drago house. Her reason for being in there was her dad thought she was suicidal. And she was. For Two years, her arms and legs and hips had accumulated hundreds of scars.

"You're too wonderful." I laugh, smiling at her bright eyes.

"What do you mean?" She asks. I shake my head in response, straightening my back and grabbing a brush.

"Nothing. I want to try and get this first layer done ok?" I gesture my head towards the paint and brushes and excitingly, she jumps up, grabbing a brush and dipping it in the light blue.

"So it is supposed to turn black when the lights are off, and when we put the clear coat it will have glowing specks like stars right?!" She asks, swiping it across the blank canvas of a wall on my ceiling.
"Right." I solemnely grabbed a brush and dipped it into the blue paint can. Swiping the wall, effortlessly, it left a streak of paint and I frowned.
"Hey look it's going to be great. Just think, you'll be sleeping with the stars everynight!" Evie looked over and smiled at me, her beauty sparkling in front of me.
"Who's hungry?" My mother called out, a wide grin on her lips. I raised my eyebrow at her, then shrugged, snatching a small triangle shaped sandwich from the platter in her hand.
"Oh my, Mrs. Higgens. Looks good!" Evie grabbed two, munching on the first one she had managed to grab.
"Well I figured with all the work that will be happening, hopefully," she looked around the room gritting her teeth together "you guys would be hungry afterwards." she turned to me and smiled.
"Thanks Mom." I cued her to leave, but she denied my proposal with a hand on my forehead.
"Honey are you feeling okay? You look flushed." she looked me up and down and I pushed her hand away, sighing.
"I'm fine Mom." I turn around, continuing my sucky painting. More blue streaks against the grey palette.

She took a moment, puzzled at the current attitude in her wake, then walked away, head bowed.

"Why do you speak like that to your mom, you know she's just worried about you." Evie asked and I shrugged.

"I don't want her to worry."
