I was lost and I knew it. I was tired, but I had to keep running. The dark guild that killed my parents and destroyed my village were on my tail. They wanted my power, but I will not give it to them. I thought my parents could handle it, only to watch them die. My parents where some of the most powerful wizards in the country, how could they be defeated by an unofficial guild? They told me to become stronger, to learn things they couldn’t teach me. I will.

I shook the thoughts from my head. I have to get away, far away. I sprinted through the forest as fast as I could, using a bit of speed magic too. I spotted a crevice in a nearby rock, and slid into it silently. I slowed my breathing to a minimum as they passed. I let out a sigh of relief after their footsteps faded away. The exhaustion finally overtook me and I fell into a deep slumber.

I awoke from my nap, to a rustling in the bushes. I shrunk back as far as I could into the rock, thinking that it was the dark guild. Something big and white popped out of the bush. I looked at it in astonishment. The ground began to shake as it unburied itself. What stood before me now was a dragon.

It looked around with fierce green eyes, until its gaze landed on me. “Come out child. I do not wish to hurt you,” it said in a vague female voice. I blinked, trying to process that the dragon had just talked. I slid out of the rock slowly. “What’s your name, dear?” it asked gently. “Akita Sakura,” I mumbled looking into her soft green orbs with my blood red ones. “Well, my name is Yasei,” she said, chuckling at my timid behavior. “How old are you, honey?” she questioned, shaking the dirt off of her white scales. “Five, Miss Yasei,” I whispered quietly, looking at the ground. “Where are your parents?” she asked, carefully lowering her head to my height. I let out a choked sob, as I remembered yesterday’s events.

Her eyes widened as she heard my anguish. She immediately used her tail to pull me into her warm embrace. “I will be your mother, my little cherry blossom,” she spoke as she nuzzled my cheek. “I will help you become stronger too,” she said as if she had read my thoughts. “We will start your training tomorrow. You have been through a lot in the past few days, so rest child,” my new mother said in a gentle tone, while patting my matted, white hair. My body went limp as the world around me went black.

“Fire Dragon’s ROAR!” I yelled putting two fingers over my lips as a wave of fire shot out from between them. The tree stood no chance and was soon a pile of ash. “Good. Now try Sky Dragon attacks,” Yasei said for the third time that day. She told me a few months ago that she was the Elemental Dragon and would teach me everything she could. I have been with her for eight months now and I have already mastered Metal and Earth Dragon Slayer magic. She said once I’ve mastered Dragon Slayer magic she would take me around the country to learn other types of magic.

I stood firmly on the ground and focused. “Sky Dragon’s Wing Attack!” I yelled throwing my hands forward like a bird would its wings. Big arcs of wind rained down on the forest, slicing trees in half as they went. Yasei nodded in appreciation at the sheer power of the attack. I repositioned myself and took a few deep breaths. “Take a break. You’ve been doing this all day,” Yasei spoke sternly as sweat rolled down my face. “I need to get stronger,” I muttered taking a deep breath. “Fire Dragon’s Brilliant Flame!” I yelled lifting my arms above my head. A huge ball of fire began to form in my hands until it reached the size of a hot air balloon. I threw the ball through the air and at a particularly large oak tree. The tree and many behind it were completely disintegrated. “I did it,” I muttered before darkness consumed me.

“Holy Nova!” I yelled destroying the mountain in front of me. It has been three years since Yasei took me in and I have mastered every kind of Dragon Slayer magic. As I looked around me, I noticed just how many mountains I had destroyed during training. I sweatdropped. ‘I wonder if anybody will notice that,’ I thought sheepishly. I noticed a white blob in the distance was flying toward me. ‘Oh, Yasei’s back from hunting. I wonder what she got,’ I pondered as pictures of food began popping into my head. The ground shook as Yasei landed beside me. As she looked around a sweatdrop formed on her head. “Are you really that excited to start training with other wizards?” She questioned me. “My parents were wizards too, right? Why wouldn’t I be this excited?” I replied with sass.

“I already ate. Eat your food quickly so we can go find you a teacher,” She said ignoring my question and tossing me a leather satchel. I scoured through the bag and ate whatever looked appetizing. I spotted something near the bottom of the bag and nearly fainted. There, in all its glory, was a box of pocky. I gasped loudly and let out a little squeal. “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you,” I yelled glomping Yasei. “You’re welcome, dear. Now let’s get going,” She chuckled and nodded in the direction of the sky. “Can I practice some Takeover magic,” I pleaded with my hands clasped together in front of me. “Sure. You could use the practice,” She said cheerfully. “Yes!” I exclaimed joyfully. I focused my energy to my back. There was a small glowing light and a pair of grey wings appeared sprouting from my back. “Let’s go!” I exclaimed jumping off the side of the mountain with Yasei right beside me.

“Yasei, where are you?” I sobbed. Yasei went missing two months after we celebrated my mastering of magic and my twelfth birthday. “Yasei!” I screamed into the stormy night air as I fell to my knees. Rain streaked down my face mixing with my tears. I banged my fist into the ground leaving a small crater in its quake. I blinked away the blurriness that had formed in my eyes. I looked down at the ground bellow me and whimpered. “Why did you leave me?” I whispered as a single tear slid down my cheek.
