Melody and Seth took me to Sweet Shoppe as a surprise gift for winning the contest. “Congratulations to our favorite singer.” It's a pretty cool place, it’s not only an ice cream parlor but they also have all sorts of candy too. We always eat our ice cream out on the deck. They have a patio, overlooking the water. It's so cool around 6:00 they always lift the drawbridge. They both knew I loved the place so I welcomed the distraction but in my back of my mind, I still thought about that meeting.

“Are you ready for tonight?” Melody asked, bringing me back to the present.

“Oh, I can't wait.” I exclaimed. My parents were going out of town for the weekend and I was staying with Melody which that is the coolest staying with her. My best friend lives at the Mermaid Inn. I am not joking but her room is an actual hotel room with a fridge and a microwave and free cable. Her parents own the hotel and so I love staying the night with Melody cause it is like we are staying at a hotel. Of course its decorated just like a teenaged girls room. But it still has the feel of a hotel room. Melody is real big into swimming. She has posters of Nathan Adrian on her wall, which I wouldn't even know who that was if I didn't know her. He is an Olympic Gold Medalist for what else but swimming. I think she eats, sleeps, and breathes swimming but luckily, she came out of the water long enough to be my best friend. Just like right now, she wore a pink t-shirt with the words, I Swimming across the front over a pair of blue jeans. Completing the outfit was a pair of her favorite pink strappy teva flip flops. Her hair was clipped on one side with a silver barrette. As for me, I never really cared for water.......I just have had bad experiences but I can still have fun swimming as long as we stay in the shallow side.

But going back to Melody's décor..........she is definitely girlier than I am even though being part of the swim team, she is athletic. Turquoise is her favorite color so she has a turquoise shaggy rug with little diamond sequins in it while her room really looks like the ocean. All the other rooms are decorated in sky blue and white but not my best friend. One wall has a mural of the ocean with sea creatures galore and it even portrays Melody as a mermaid in it amongst dolphins and fish with an Olympic gold medal around her neck.

My other best friend painted that. Seth is an incredible artist. He did it for a surprise for her birthday last year. I definitely cannot draw but it was my idea about putting her a gold medal around her neck. I asked him what gave him the idea to paint her as a mermaid and he just smiled at me. “She lives at the Mermaid Inn, doesn't she?”

We figured since she is so addicted to swimming her room needed to scream her. Besides it is perfect for the Mermaid Inn and her parents gave us permission in no time.

She has long wavy brown hair and the most amazing blue eyes, almost like sapphires. My eyes are brown and short dirty blonde hair. I suppose I am pretty ordinary besides the one thing about my not so ordinary voice.

Right now, I wore a purple t-shirt that read, Awesome is spelled me over blue-jeans paired with sneakers. Melody had to pull my arm to get me to wear that sequined dress and those stiletto heels but I had to admit it made me feel like an actual rock star just like my mom was back in the day.

Seth interrupted my thoughts, “It's so unfair. You guys get to hang out in luxury while I am stuck at home going to have dinner with my father's new girlfriend. Why does he have to date anyone?” A frown crept over his handsome face.

Seth was about six foot and he towered over Melody and me. He had light brown hair and green eyes. He was dressed in a buttoned up green and black shirt that made his eyes seem more intense. His shirt draped over his dark blue-jeans and he had matched it with his favorite pair of vans. His mom had died when he was real little and then he and his dad moved to Mystic, Connecticut and he became friends with Melody right from the start and then I moved here and completed our trio.

“Why don't you try to give her a chance, Seth?”Melody said, gently. I cringed waiting for Seth to protest but he changed the subject. She is probably the only one he would let get away with a comment like that. It was apparently something he did not want to talk about.....just like how I did not want to talk about my upcoming meeting but how was I going to keep it from Melody all weekend long?

“Tell you what, Seth. How about I ask my mom if you can stay in one of the rooms tomorrow night? I am sure she won't mind.” Melody suggested.

“Okay, cool. Then, I can tell you how much fun dinner was with her.” He said her as if he was about to choke on his ice cream cone. Melody's mom had sort of adopted Seth for she was always like a second mom to him so I was sure she wouldn't mind Seth staying in one of the rooms. She was rather old fashioned though and absolutely forbid boys and girls to room together unless they were married. She had actually turned away customers for that very thing. But I loved Molly. She was so sweet and nice. I decided to put all thoughts about that dreaded meeting aside until Monday morning and that seemed decades away rather than just two days away but I was going to enjoy my weekend anyways.
