Emily's POV~
In the hospital with my mom, I'm sitting on the chair crying. My mom has cancer and is trying to fight it. After my dad left with my brother it's just been me and my mom. I can't lose her, she's all I have. "Emily, darling you alright."
"Yeah mom, I'm alright."
"You look tired, why don't you sleep."
"I can't mom, I'm afraid that if I do then you'd leave me..."
As the tears rolled down my face, I can feel my mom smiling and reach her hand out. Looking up I wiped my eyes and held her hand. "My sweet girl there's nothing to be sad about. Come here,"
Going over to my mom's bed, I climbed up and laid down with my head on her chest crying. Slowly rubbing my back and running her fingers in my hair, I started to calm down. "It's okay Emily, I promise that when you wake up I'll still be here okay?"
Shaking my head I finally closed my tired eyes and fell asleep to my mom humming my favorite song 'Faded'. As I woke up I sat up and rubbed eyes, I then looked at my mom and saw her breathing. Once I relaxed, I got off the bed and onto the chair as my mom woke up. "Sorry if I woke you up."
"It's okay sweetie, how did you sleep?"
"I slept fine, thank you mom."
Smiling my mother looked up at the ceiling and I looked down at my hands and started to play with my fingers. Before I could sat anything my mom looked at me with tears in her eyes and my heart melted while my tears rolled down my face. "Emily, I'm not going to make it, I can't fight anymore, just know I love you very much..."
"D-Don't say that... your gonna make it mom just keep fighting! Please..."
As I held onto my moms hand she put her other hand on my cheek and then kissed my head. Looking at her I tried to tell her that I loved her but her heart monitor stop beeping in a pattern and just had one long beep. Crying for my mom and yelling for help, the doctors came in and was trying to revive my mom. As they were doing that a doctor held me as I cried in her arms. After about an hour they stopped and looked down taking off all the wires and tubes then looked at me. "We're sorry for your lost little one, we did everything we could."
"No... no that cant be... she can't leave me!"
Running up to my mom I held her and the doctors then left leaving me, my mom, and the lady who held me. I know she was dead but I couldn't accept it, she was all I had left. Finally letting go of my mom I ran out of the hospital and to my house which wasn't far. After packing my bag and grabbing the tent I heard a knock at front door and locked it. "Emily, darling it's the nurse, can you please let us in we're only trying to help."
"No! Just leave me alone!"
Going to my mom's room I grabbed her picture and a locket that she always wears, inside was a picture of me and brother before my dad took him. "Emily I'm asking one more time for you to let us in before we have force our way in."
Looking at the door I grabbed whatever money was in the house along with food and went out the back door right as I heard them break down the front door. "Look upstairs, she's got to be here."
Taking a deep breath I started to run away, away from home and away from the memories. I knew that the doctors are either going to give me to dad or in a foster care. I don't want another family and I don;t want to see my dad. He left us and it made mama sick with cancer. After running for awhile I stopped and sat on a log to catch breath. Walking through the woods I didn't stop, only to eat for if the doctors found out I ran I don't want them to catch up to me.
What felt like midnight, I tried to find a nice clearing so I can put up the tent. I know there's a town somewhere down the road for my mom told me. After getting the tent up I went in and just laid there the memory of my mom dying replaying in my mind till I finally fell asleep.
Waking up to the sun rising I stretched and wiped the tired of my eyes. I then ate something small and packed up the tent so I could start walking again. Finally finding the road, I stayed in the woods but to were I could still see the road and followed it. It was about noon and I could see the sign for the town, once I saw it I started running not stopping unless my legs gave out or I start seeing houses. Unfortunately my legs gave out first and I had to sit to catch my breath and eat something. After I was done eating I heard something run behind me. "Hello? Is anyone there?"
As the running got closer I saw a half peeling man who was running towards me and stopped once he saw me. I felt sick to my stomach but I also wanted to run and scream. "A little girl huh, you'll do."
"Leave me alone!"
Reaching for me, I started to back away from him but he grabbed my arm. Screaming the guy or whatever he is slaps me. "I'm not the kind to slap a little kid but if you don't shut up I'll do worst."
Looking at this now skinless creature, I was full of fear. I didn't know what to do or if there was anybody else out here so I stayed silent in my fear. Then out of nowhere it bit me on my arm and started to change in front of me and when it was done I was shocked. "Y-Your me!? But how!?"
Covering my arm it started to bleed a little from where it bit me. As the now looking like me creature licked my blood from 'my' lips it smiled and then looked at me. "Well nice to meet you Emily."
"H-How do you know my name!?"
"I'm you so I know whats in your head, so I know your name, age, basic stuff. The longer I'm you the more I know."
Scared to death we heard a crack and look to see a man come running over to us. The thing that took my form started to curse and I can tell that the man was who the thing was running away from. "Shit, it already changed..."
Looking at the man he pointed a gun to my face and I shrieked, scared out of my mind that I might die. Then he pointed the gun at the fake me and it shrieked and pretended to be scared. "Don't kill me please, I'm the real one!"
He then pointed the gun back at me and I was on the verge of tears. I didn't know what to do or say but then I closed my eyes and walked up to the gun still holding my arm shocking the man and the fake me. "J-Just do it... if you do then I can be with my mom..."
Crying at this point the fake me finally got the memory that my mother died and was shocked and mad. "Why would you go in front of a gun, you idiotic-"
The shot of the gun made me cover my ears and shut my eyes tight. Once I opened my eyes, I saw the fake me dead on the ground and the man still in front of me, he then knelled down in front of me and took my arm. Still scared I tried to pull my arm away from him but his grip was tight. "Hey, I'm trying to heal your arm."
"W-Why didn't you shoot me?"
"I knew you were the real one for you had a bite mark plus there was skin behind it. You also told me something that the other you didn't know."
"What is that? It changed exactly like me and knew my name and age..."
As the man took a deep breath he finished rapping up my arm and stood up. As I pulled my arm close to me I looked at him waiting for my answer. "It's called a Skinwalker, when it bites you it has the power to change and look just like you, the longer its you-"
"The more it knows... yeah, it told me."
Looking at the Skinwalker it still looked like me. I then walked over to my stuff and picked it up. As I looked at the man he knelled down to look at the Skinwalker, so I started to run deeper towards the town to get away from the man. Sure he saved me but I'm only seven and was just attached by a Skinwalker that came to me as a half peeling man. I can't trust anyone.
Once I felt like I gotten away from the man as possible I stopped and rested. As I went to sit down I saw a trail that must be used for joggers and bikers, which means that there's houses and places down it. After resting for a little bit I got back up and started going up the trail so I can find a clear spot where no one can see or find me.
As the sun was setting I finally found a clearing and looked around to make sure no one was around, then started to put up my tent. I'm going to live here so might as well get comfy. After getting everything set up in the tent I sat outside it and looked around so I can know my surroundings. Going for a little walk around I found a stream and started to play with the water with a stick. It was calm and quite and the water looked beautiful. "I can get use to this... just wish you were here mom..."
Holding to the locket, I put it around my neck and stood up. Walking back, to the tent I grabbed some money and a hood, putting it on I walked back to the trail and then started walking to the town. Once I got there it was crowded with people, so before I continued I put the hood over my head and tried to find a book store. After getting attached by a Skinwalker I wanted to learn all I can about anything supernatural. Finally finding the book store I went in and started looking for any and all books about myths/supernatural. Getting the last book I went up to the front to pay and saw a big notebook that was for a dollar so I grabbed it so I can write down everything. "Hi there, will this be all?"
"Yes ma'am"
"First time here?"
"Yes ma'am"
"Well how do you like it here so far?"
"Um... good?"
"It's okay, probably haven't seen everything yet but if you like to walk or jog, you and your folks could go down the trail down the road from here."
"Thank you"
"Okay, so we have a buy three get two half priced off would you like to do that?"
"Yes please"
"Okay and as a welcome gift I'll give you a free book, go ahead and choose one."
Going back to the aisle were I got the other books I looked for a bigger book that might be more helpful if anything. As I got it I went back on the counter and she smiled. "good choose, I also put a pen in there just for fun. Your total would be $26.43."
"okay here's $30."
"Okay, your change is $3.37."
"You can keep the cents, thank you for helping."
Leaving the book store I took my stuff and went down the trail, once I got to my turn off the trail I looked to see if there was anyone by and went towards my tent. Setting my things down I went to make me something to eat for diner and watched the full moon rise. Once I was done I went in my tent and got ready for bed. "This is going to be a long life huh mom... goodnight, I love you."
