I stared at my notebook blankly, as a tear fell onto the last page. I looked up to see the pool of dry blood on the floor, which was hidden under a shelf, with a necklace on it. Julia's necklace. I finally figured it out.
Julia was always the favorite child. She was a girly girl, got good grades, and was, unlike me, straight. It's 1985, you don't just go around telling people you're a lesbian. But, even with that knowledge, I told my mom; and she was NOT happy. Julia was the 8th grader every mom ever dreamed of. Who wouldn't love a goody two shoes as a daughter. She did everything you wanted and acted however you wanted. But, I loved her anyway.
I just don't understand why it happened... or how. I'd like to think that I'm a pretty smart girl, not a super genius, but smart. Either way, even the smartest detectives in New York couldn't solve Jules' case. Since nobody else could figure out what happened, I was determined to prove the public wrong, and uncover what REALLY happened that day. The worst day.
I marched down the stairs beside my sister, grabbing my keys to go to school after fighting with my little sister over the stupidest thing. Homework. "I don't CARE if you hate math, Mrs. Anderson is going to kick your ASS if you don't do it."
"Okay?; and? I don't give a crap what she thinks. I. Hate. GEOMETRY!" She screamed, while I quietly giggled at her. It was so stupid that we were arguing over 8th grade geometry homework.
"Julia, we have to go to school," I mumbled, irritated. I looked at her paper for about 2 minutes, and wrote down the answers to the first 3 questions. "Tell her you didn't understand the last two," I said, "I don't even understand them myself." She subtly smiled at me, and we walked downstairs so I could drive us to school.
