"I want to color too!" Wanda exclaimed, dropping the stuffed animal she was holding and crawling over to the coffee table, where you decided to make a beautiful painting for your mommy.
Your blood boiled. Of course she did, of course she did!
"Then you can do it alone," you dropped the pink crayon, pouting and frowning as you hurriedly got up. It was not common for you to walk when you were in your little space, but you just wanted to get away from the redhead as soon as possible, as you were already fed up with the situation.
You heard Agatha calling your name from the couch, but you kept going up the stairs anyway. She could punish you later if she wanted to.
At least that way she would maybe pay some attention to you.
The bitter thought made your eyes fill with tears. Yes, if you needed to become a bad girl for mommy to treat you the same way she treated Wanda, you would. After all, that was how the other little got all the attention for herself.
She was always acting out, always out of line and yet at the end of the day she somehow still ended up in Agatha's lap while you hugged your bunny from the other side of the couch.
And not content with taking all the attention, the witch was always on your tail, doing everything you did. Did you want to play on the swing? She wanted too. Did you want to play astronaut? Wanda was there with you. Everything you saw was red, quite literally. You couldn't get rid of her, even though you couldn't stand her innocent little face any longer as she copied everything you did.
By slamming your bedroom door behind you with a loud bang, you made it very clear that you didn't want to be followed. At least your room was yours alone, and you didn't want Wanda to take that from you too.
Dropping to the mattress, you buried your face in the pillow and let the tears soak into it. At some point in the past, you might have been crying in your mommy's lap, but you imagined that at that very moment Agatha was comforting Wanda, her golden girl.
But then, you heard the doorknob turn and you used your arms to lift your torso off the bed, getting ready to scream at the redhead to get out of your room, but facing your mommy instead. She didn't look happy, but she wasn't angry either. You knew angry mommy, and that wasn't her.
"Can you explain to me what just happened in the living room Y/N?" She asked calmly, taking a seat beside you.
You opened your mouth to defend yourself, but you choked on crying, losing your breath and letting a cry escape. Agatha ran her hand around your waist, stroking your back and letting you settle into her chest, "breathe, baby, breathe."
Coughing a little, you finally managed to stammer out a sentence, being cut off by the sobs still all too present, "I-I didn't w-want her to t-color t-too."
"And why not? You always enjoyed playing with Wan, Y/N."
You shook your head, wetting the brunette's shirt even more, "no m-no more, you would l-like her drawing better than m-mine."
"Who told you that?" She cupped your chin, lifting your face and making you look into hers, her brows furrowed and her eyes attentive on yours.
"No one, but no need," you replied petulantly, "you like her better, I... I know that."
"You know that's not true, little one," Agatha shook her head, squeezing your waist a little tighter against her.
"Yes, you always pay more attention to her, even when she misbehaves," you pulled away from her, straining against her embrace, "no matter what she does, you spoil her and forget about me," your lip bottom started to shake, the clear threat that you were about to start crying again, "you... and she... she's still on my tail-" a sob escaped you, making you break eye contact and stare at anything but Agatha, "to get all...all your attention, just like today."
"Oh baby..." she came back into view, an expression of understanding on her face, "you got it all wrong, silly bunny."
"How?" You pouted, letting a few more tears fall as you looked down at your hands in your lap.
"You're right about something, I'm really paying more attention to Wanda, and I'm sorry if it made you feel like I didn't love you as much as I do," she kissed your nose, drying your cheeks with her hands, "but it's because she... she's not as strong as you are, she's not always so brave Y/N."
"That's a lie," it was your turn to shake your head, "she's not afraid of the dark like I am."
Your comment made Agatha chuckle, "that's not what I mean, my angel, Wanda..." she seemed to be choosing the best words, "she's been through very difficult things and it makes her misbehave sometimes, but it's because she's scared, Y/N... that's why she wants to be like you."
"Like me?" You tilted your head. How so?
"Yes, she looks up to you baby, that's why she always wants to play the same things as you, she just wants to be the way you are, understand?" Mommy finished explaining as she stroked your hair.
You nodded a little, "I never thought like that."
"I know you didn't, but you need to know this isn't a competition of who's better, love," she kissed your forehead, "Wanda sees you as family, and she doesn't just want my attention, she wants yours too, she needs your protection as much as mine," she said very quietly, like a secret, "she trusts and needs you, Y/N."
"I... I get it," you muttered, blushing with embarrassment at having thought so badly of the other little, "I'm sorry mommy, I just wanted you to pay attention to me and I hurt Wan."
Agatha kissed you once more, this time on the cheek, "let's do it like this, I promise to give you more attention if you go downstairs now and make up with Wanda, okay?"
"Pinky promise?" You stuck out your little finger in front of her.
"Pinky promise," the older woman agreed, lacing her pinky with yours, sealing the commitment.
In one leap you were on your feet, running out of the room and down the stairs, making Agatha scream for you to be careful. And just as you had left Wanda, you found her, still sitting by the coffee table in the living room, so downcast she didn't even see you.
"Wan, I'm sorry," you suddenly hugged her, making her tense with shock but soon relaxing in your arms, "I love you."
"I...love you too, Y/N," she sighed, hugging you back.
"And I love my little girls," Agatha declared, leaning against the doorway, watching the scene with her arms crossed and a smile on her face.
You two giggled, before Wanda took one of your hands, "do you want to draw with me?"
Tears already forgotten, you smiled and nodded, "let's do the best drawing ever, Wan!"
And so you both took the crayons once more, but choosing to draw on the same sheet of paper together.
Agatha continued to watch in silence, shaking her head.
Yeah, you two could be a handful, but luckily she had two hands.
