The journey to the air kingdom had taken the nature lords an hour, but aside from some minor turbulence during the landing, it passed peacefully. Now Agrom and his three companions were standing in front of the royal palace, with the capital of the air kingdom stretching out below them. Agrom was impressed by the preparations that were now taking place. Multicolored stalls were being erected on the side streets, and flags with the symbol of the air gormites: a golden sun on an orange background, were being hung on the oblong windows that were round at the top. The main street was cleared to prepare it for the Royal Procession - during which representatives of all five tribes rode in carriages.
Agrom and the rest of the Gormstones descended from the ship, which disintegrated a moment later. This was how the power of the Gormstones worked - they could create vehicles and weapons and destroy manufactured objects in the blink of an eye, just like what had just happened to the ship.
- So what do we do now guys? - Asked Agrom looking at the city stretching out below him.
- First, as a royal descendant, I must check the preparations. I can show you around in the meantime. - answered Noctis putting his hands behind his back.
- I'm for it," said Piron, shaking something from his hand.
- In that case come along,' said Noctis, walking towards the door leading inside the palace. The entrance was guarded by two guards with their eyes fixed forward. Their appearance made Agrom think of the statues in the hallway of the Earth Palace where he now lived. The guards opened the door as soon as Noctis approached.
Inside, gormits of the air flew from one room to another with a variety of decorations. The flutter of their wings sounded like a symphony of sorts. Noctis guided his friends through the golden-walled corridors, hurriedly flown by subjects who bowed low as they passed the lords.
At one point during their tour of the palace, the gormites stood before a small door. Unlike the other doors their color was blue with the symbol of a silver moon. Behind them a variety of sounds could be heard such as roars, hisses, and mutual calls of the air gormites, but Agrom was unable to discern individual words in the noise. With a motion of one hand, Noctis opened the door, and Agrom, Piron, and Tasaru saw what was happening behind them.
The room had darker walls than the halls they had passed through earlier. They were dark blue, and the room itself was the size of a stadium. On the other side of the room was a pair of large doors, but with a sun symbol. Inside, the air gormites were cavorting with a variety of animals that Agrom saw for the first time with his eyes.
He saw two griffins with white heads and golden bodies being fed. In another part of the room, blue pegasi were being combed, and in yet another part of the room, one air gormite was trying to pluck something from the beak of a hippogriff. On the other side of the hall, a pair of silver-scaled dragons could be seen sleeping.
-What is going on here? - asked Tasaru looking at the air gormite that was still trying to pull something out of the hippogriff's beak.
-This is where we prepare the animals and carriages before the parade. - Noctis announced as he walked between the animals. The rest of the lords followed him.
- A parade?" asked Agrom.
- Yes. Representatives of each of the five tribes ride in a chariot drawn by an animal that is the symbol of their tribe.
-What is the symbol of your tribe? - asked Piron.
- My griffin. - answered Noctis as he watched the preparations. - The northern tribe has hippogriffs, the southern tribe heavenly dragons, the western tribe pegasi... - Noctis paused for a moment, but in his voice at the last words Agrom heard sadness.
