So I watched Barbie: Big City Big Dreams and was it good! I purrsonally loved the movie! Sure, there are some things they could improve on, but overall it was amazing! The songs were great and I just love Rafa's character so much. Emmie was amazing too! So here's my review!

(✨Spoiler warning ✨)

So Barbie (Malibu) goes to NYC to learn in an academy, where one student would be able to go on Broadway. She meets Barbie (Brooklyn) who is also early to the institute. I really liked the was they made Before Us a tour song. I was suspecting something like that. But, the way the girls were on the train gave me deja vu from somewhere...*cough* Startrain Adrienette scene *cough*. I DO NOT ship them, but just wanted to mention it.

One thing I want to point out, is that Emmie looks a little like Daisy, and Rafa looks a little like Prince Johan (from Barbie Princess Adventure).

The songs were simply spectacular! 'Playground Of Our Dreams' really hit me in the feels! The song is my favourite from the soundtrack, and I now know they were referring to the academy as the 'Playground Of Their Dreams'. It was unexpected how Malibu got expelled, but I liked it. I absolutely adore the 'Good Vibes' dance scene! One thing surprised me was that 'Work It' was for Malibu, as we've never seen her this bad at something. Everyone was scared of her XD. Good on them!

Plus, I'd like to add that the drummer dude was just hilarious 😂
So was the sweeper woman XD "I'm too old for this"
Rafa naming his dog 'Cat' was the best, they did a good job on selecting the VA!
Margret jumping was something I really enjoyed XD. She was literally bouncing on the viewing gallery at the end.

Now for the main part. This is a very important message, and in life everything is not a competition. I'm glad they addressed it, and made Brooklyn in denial of Malibu ever being her friend. People do pretend to be your friend just to take advantage of friendship! Another important message is that things are not always as they seem. And boy do I despise Emmie's father.

Now there were a few things that I felt could have been done better. I was confused about how Malibu even got into that academy ( I would expect that such a big and famous academy would select the best people) till it was mentioned that you could just enroll and she'd worked very hard to get in.

Sooo... after Malibu was re enrolled, how did they get selected for Broadway? As far as I saw, everyone was SUPER talented? The Barbies never did anything extraordinary...? But ok....

I did find it a little odd that Malibu was the only blonde in all the ballet dancers.

And what happened with Emmie? After the movie was her dad still her director? Did she get to live her life? What happened? I can tell her father is still pretty controlling..... I would have loved to see Emmie confront him, and tell him about how he shouldn't control her. In the scene where she met with him outside the airport, I was half expecting her to just fire him, but that didn't happen....

I just felt that the end scene was a little....basic....for Broadway. The backup dancers were just doing similar steps over and over again.

Over all, I'd give it an 8. It was good, the songs for me were absolute bangers, but they left a lot of things unanswered. Hopefully we get some answers in upcoming Barbie Vlogs.
