4. Daichi| Angst | Thunder Clouds

Years

It's been years since I've seen her face.

But I could never forget it, not in a million years.

I run up the subway stairs into the street above, soft summer rain falling.

"Tokyo" I say breathing hard,

"Help me find her" I say into the sky above, thunder claps behind me and I spin around.  My eyes widen as I catch a glimpse of her walking through the crowded crosswalk. 

I sprint, running into people, letting out apologies but never not running.

'I have to get to her'

'I have to know this is real'

~5 years ago~

"I told you Daichi, I'm just going for a drive to the market, I'll be back in time for us to go to the game." (y/n) smiled at me and I sighed, knowing he'd made her mind up.

"promise you'll be back?" 

"I promise."

"Daichi Sawamura?" A foreign voice says,

"yes, that's me, where's (y/n)?" I ask trying to keep calm but not understanding why he's called me from your number.

My heart stops, my feet move, I drive.

Disinfectant stings my nose and tears sting my eyes. Bright white lights and sirens ringing. All meaning nothing compared to the ache in my chest.

"Daichi, they tried their best to save her but she just couldn't hold on" my best friend, Suga whispers to me.

"she promised..." my voice comes out strained, tangled in emotions.

Eyes wide and clothes soaked with rain, thunder cracks and I stare at her. Shes standing under a ledge sheltering from the rain.

Her face, that face, I've kissed so many times, I've loved and watched smile at a million of my jokes. Been to a million of my games. Always been there, always. 

Until she wasn't. 

Her face I saw pale and still, the last time I saw her in stark contrast to her now, so alive, breathing, heart beating.

"(y-y/n)?" my voice comes out a whisper.

She looks at me

and smiles

"I promised I'd be back" she says walking over to me.

"how, how are y-you" I question, baffled at this moment.

"I don't have much time, but," she says moving so her hands caress my face. Her beautiful eyes watching mine, radiating warmth, light, love.

"I came to tell you I loved you. I love you Daichi and I know our time was short but you were the best thing that ever happened to me. I've seen you grow and you are so so strong." Tears fall from her eyes and I find myself matching.

"I'm always going to be with you, right in here" she says touching my heart, my skin glowing.

"always?" I ask quietly.

"always."

Thunder rumbles and I look to the sky, a lightning bold strikes and a loud bang resonates. I look back down to her and shes gone.
