Jade and beck both had very different childhoods and upbringings growing up, becks was rather positive whereas jades was the complete opposite of positive

Jade's childhood was filled with yelling and hate. From as early as jade could remember her parents were constantly arguing and yelling, But even once they got divorced her mother started arguing with her more since she couldn't fight with her father anymore

Three of her earliest memories involved fighting. The first memory happened on what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of the year, Christmas Eve. She had already fallen asleep to wait for Santa but suddenly she was woken up by yelling downstairs

"What do you mean you didn't get the potato patch pal she asked for" Anna west yelled, completely unaware of her volume and fuelled by anger

"I thought you were getting the damn doll!" David west argued back at the same volume

"I specifically told you to get it yesterday when you went shopping!" Anna yelled back

"Oh it's just a stupid doll I'm sure she's already forgotten she wanted it"

"She's been talking about it since September David!"

Jade couldn't make out most of what was being yelled because she had a pillow over her head to try to drown out the noise so she could go back to sleep, because she knew that if she didn't go back to sleep Santa wouldn't come to bring her her potato patch pal

No matter how hard she tried she couldn't drown them out to fall asleep. The only thing she warned was that potato patch pal and she knew if she didn't sleep soon there wouldn't be a doll for her downstairs when she woke up. She ended up crying  for so long and so hard she fell asleep

She was only six

Her second memory was in the first week of her brother Joshua being home from the hospital. Her parents were in their room arguing about who knows what, meanwhile their newborn son was in the room next door crying

Jade had hoped that the new baby meant they would stop yelling a bit more and would attention to both her and Joshua, but it already seemed like that wasn't going to happen

Jade wandered into his nursery to see if she could help him. He was laying on his back in his crib crying

"It's ok joshy" jade tried, standing on her tip toes to reach over the crib wall. She tried patting his head, which did nothing then she tried rubbing his face which also did nothing. She tried the only other thing she could think of: she sang to him

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away" she sang softly

Within singing the first line Joshua stopped crying and opened his eyes fully to look up at here

"It's just you and me J" she smiled after finishing singing "I love you"

Her third memory was when she was 12 and found her 3 year old brother sitting on the stairs listening to their parents yelling in the kitchen about who was driving the kids to school the next day

"Why do they fight so much" he cried

The only person jade had a soft spot for was her baby brother, so seeing him like this broke her. Seeing him like this reminded her of herself when she was younger, alone, crying and wondering how horrible of a daughter she had to be to have her parents fighting like this all the time

"I wish I knew but I dont" jade admitted sitting down next to him "it makes it better if you do this" she said holding her hands over his ears to drain out some of the noise
