As we walked through the woods, people joked and laughed. We placed bets on how many of the undead we'd see.

"How is everyone today?" I asked as we grouped up.

"Great." I got from some people,

"Alright." I got from others, some didn't reply though.

"Good, so this is where we split up. Group C, cover the west side of the woods. Don't leave the town though."

I split up the rest of the groups, then head off with mine.

Our area of the woods was empty like usual.

We went to a cave that we found a while ago, to sit in until our shift was over.

I lit a cigarette and closed my eyes. It had started to rain and it was soothing.

The younger kids on patrol told stories and jokes.

"Did you hear that?" A newbie asked,

The freckle faced girl squealed, I opened my eyes and glared at him.

"Don't, it's not funny."

He made an exasperated face and threw up his hands like he was serious.

But I was serious too.

"If you hear something, then you need to go out there and check."

The newbie sighed and eqquiped himself. I turned to look at the cave and entrance and gasped so hard I began to choke on cigarette smoke.

"Don't move!" I shouted over my violent coughs to the younger kids.

In front of me was a scrawny blue haired dead one. He just stared, I slowly got up, the kids whimpered.

"Please... Don't move." I said to him, he just sat down.

I quickly put handcuffs on him and called the kids over.

"What do we do?" The freckle faced girl asked.

"We take him to the disease center." I said as I pulled the dead one to his feet.
