At 8:02 a.m. on October 24th, a young girl named Veronica was born. Her mother held her close as tears of joy streamed down her face to see her second baby girl being held for the first time.
The new child cried out desperately. Confused and new to everything. Breathing, swallowing, blinking, everything was a foreign challenge to discover.
Her mother held her tight ignoring her own pain and sweat from the fight of giving birth. Her daughter was here. Her child was here. She engulfed the little one in her arms. Something this mother has desperately wanted to do since the discovery of her pregnancy.
Yes, discovery. This little girl was not planned. Just two doped-up adults having unprotected sex. As these adults were both chasing their double high they mindlessly were creating another being. Another soul. One more human they'd struggle to maintain and raise.
The room fell quiet as the baby lay peacefully asleep in her mothers' warm touch. Her mother glanced around the empty room with her little remaining energy. The feeling begins to settle into her.
Although she has her daughter she felt that he should've been there. This beautiful little girl's father didn't even show up to her own birth. Her birth. Something true fathers would never want to miss.
He did end up showing up... After her birth. Mother was tired and so was the little girl. Being alive was tiring for someone so new. The father wasn't pleased with their exhaustion. He became filled with anger as he had missed his daughter's birth. The anger he was feeling was well deserved for his mistakes.
He had left soon after meeting little Veronica. So many people had shown up to see her. So many faces she hadn't even seen as she kept her eyes shut from her new world.
The people had left quicker than they had arrived. Leaving mother and daughter alone again.
It was scary. The mother was alone beside the assistance of the nurses during her birth, yet the mother had welcomed the loneliness as a chance to bond with the little girl.
The mother had left the hospital the following day. Her hospital room was cleaned up and set back up for the next patient as she had left in a wheelchair cradling her girl in her arms to start their life together.
Crazy to think that the mother had a completely different life before her little girl had come along. How the mother had lived way before her daughter yet for the daughter it was only the start of her life.
This little girl had so much to learn about being a human. About being a person in a functioning society. So much to learn, yet such little time to listen. She'd have to learn quickly to be able to succeed into her teenage years.
