Late 2014...
John was sleeping in the chair in his wife's hospital room, along with her, and the child. But then a small moan could be heard. John woke up, and noticed the child squirming in Mary's arms.
"Oh dear." He mumbled, walking to the bed. He gently picked up the child from his wife's arms, and cradled her. He stared down at Charlotte, stroking her head. Her big blue eyes opened, and stopped fidgeting. He gave a small tired smile at her.
"Hi babe. You don't know how many hours I spent taking care of you and your mum." He started to tear up.
"It's all worth it though, because we have you now, Charlotte, and no one is going to hurt you." A tear rolled down his cheek, as he kissed her forehead.
"Oh dear, are we getting emotional again?" Mary said, as she opened her eyes, sitting up straight.
"I'm just tired I guess." John replied. Mary hugged him and kissed in on the cheek.
"There, Feel better?"
"... A little." He replied, smiling. Mary smiled back at him. She looked down at Charlotte.
"So, we have this little monster to take care of now!"
"Yeah... But what about-"
"She's safe with us. Don't worry about him." She interrupted.
"But what about you?" He questioned.
"I can defend myself, and besides, you'll take care of me, won't you?" John gave a weak grin.
"Of course." He put his arm around her shoulders, and hugged her and the child tight.

"Daddy?" Charlotte called out, walking around the graveyard. She looked all over the yard, and she saw no sign of her father. She turned to her right, and saw a pathway. John has told her not to go down there, but if she wants to find her father, she found herself having no choice. She ran down the path, passing all the graves, with all the lifeless bodies buried beneath the dirt.
She stopped to catch her breath, but noticed something at the corner of her eye. Charlotte hid behind one of the trees, and saw that what she had seen, was her father. He was towering over a grave, sniffling, and breathing heavily. She could hear crying coming from somewhere. And that somewhere, was her father.
"Daddy?" John turned around quickly, tear stains all down his cheeks. Charlotte held her father's hand tightly.
"It's okay, daddy, don't cry." John smiled at her.
"I'll try, babe. Don't you worry." Got on his knees and hugged Charlotte, tears going down his face as he rested his head on her shoulder. Charlotte rested her head on his shoulder as well. She opened her eyes, and saw the gravestone that John had been looking at.

"Mummy?" She thought, as she closed her eyes, and sobbed into her fathers shoulder.
