Shouting filled the underground where the light couldn't reach, a giant stadium dug out into the face of the earth where a battle would take place.
"Welcome one and all! Tonight we've got a feast to show ya!"
Two cages were dug into the walls, opposite of one another as garage doors obscured the beasts inside. The commentator's voice rang through speakers, the crowd's tension rising.
"Enna's greatest arena! No rules and no laws! Battle like you've never seen it before!"
As he shouted, the left garage door shuddered before being dragged upwards, smoke billowing as the commentator shouted.
"On the blue side, the current reigning champion of the underground arena!"
From the smoke, the metal legs of a massive humanoid machine stepped out as he announced him to all.
"Fedya Fredericton!"
The sound of tires screeching filled the stadium, wheels attached to the feet that gave it surprising speed, the champion's mechanical giant leaving tire tracks as it flew through the stadium.
Soon it stopped, the announcer continuing after the dust settled.
"And on the red side, our newest challenger!"
As he shouted, the crowd gasped when they saw the garage door be slammed, the corrugated metal torn apart as a mass of steel flew out.
Fedya found himself bracing for impact, the red side charging straight at him with a shoulder bash, the noise of colliding steel filling the stadium.
"It's Ion Ise, and it looks like the match has already begun!"
Making circles, Fedya broke free from Ion's assault, the champion's shoulders dented and smashed as wires were torn and sparks flew from the fresh wound.
The two iron chassis were the same design, the tournament having one rule where the contestants used mass produced battle machines.
Though, one change was to the hands, the forearms surgically removed and giant metal pipes attached. They acted like clenched fists, perfect for punching holes in anything they could hit.
"With that surprise attack, it looks like our champion's on the ropes!"
They could see Fedya himself, the frontal assault smashing the body armor of the machine, tearing a hole that became a window inside.
There, it was a middle aged man, one who had been battling in the arena for several years wearing a skin tight suit meant to protect against injuries.
On his head was a headset that was connected to cameras on the machine itself, giving him vision while guarded inside the iron chassis.
