The steak looks so juicy, I want to bring some with me home so that I wouldn't have to make something for tomorrow. Or maybe I should stop by the grocery and buy and just make it myself. I'm pretty sure Dino would love it. Where is Dino? Oh, there he is that little baby. I would want to be him right now.

"Kayla Alessandra Davis. Are you even listening to me right now?" I jumped from my seat to look at my mom as she shouted my full name. Yikes, I am so dead right now. I let out a sigh and looked at her, "Yes mom. Look, I'm sorry okay. I just, I don't know. I just submitted my resumes everywhere. I mean I'm thankful for all the phone calls you did Sydney, and talking to your friends about me dad but Williams is the only company that actually bothered to interview me. No shortcuts. Nothing."

The room was silent except for the little laughter coming from Johnson and small barks from Dino in the corner of the room. Ugh, I would love to be either of them right now. "I really didn't mean to accept their offer. I mean I'm starting from the ground up. They gave me a position based on my skills and not my last name." And again, more silence. I can see Sydney trying to control herself from getting mad at me. I mean, I would be annoyed at me too and maybe slap the back of my head as well for my actions of working under the Williams.

The whole feud between our families started with dad and Robert Williams. They met in freshman year in university and they easily became best friends. They started the business during their university days as a project for a class. They saw the potential and decided to pursue it and they both built the company from the bottom and made their way to top in just 3 years. The company was excelling. Everything was going well until they weren't. Robert held a board meeting without dad and made the decision that dad has to go. He lost everything then. My mom helped him start over and now, both Davis & Co. and Williams, Inc. are known everywhere. From hotel chains, restaurants and land developments all over the world.

Dad stood up form his chair, my eyes following his every move. He hadn't said anything from when I told them I accepted the job. He made his way over to me and hugged me. I couldn't move. My eyes widen by the sudden gesture. "I understand," he said while stroking my hair. I felt myself tear up with what dad was saying, "Just know that we're always here for you no matter what. It's your future. If you want to work there, it is alright. I won't get in your way." He pulled away from me and held my face, wiping away my tears, "You will always have a place in our company, okay? It is yours as well, don't forget about that."

I pulled him back to hug him, "Thank you dad."

"I love you, Kayla. I want you to be happy, wherever it may be."

...

Lunch finally finished. I bid my family goodbye and promised to visit them when I have the time. I parked my car in the basement and made my way to my apartment with Dino beside me. Once we got in, Dino ran towards his little play area. I grabbed my phone and texted Tiffany to just come up once they get here. I went to the bathroom and prepared myself a bath. I badly need one.

I turned on some light acoustic and lit some candles in my bathroom. Once my bath was ready, I stepped in and welcomed the hot water as I lowered myself. I felt my body slowly relax and I closed my eyes.

"Kayla! Kayla are you here?" I opened my eyes as I heard Tiffany from the other side of the door. The hot water from my bath long gone. I must've fallen asleep. "I'll be out in a minute!" I shouted back. I went to the shower to rub off the the sticky soap clinging to my body and washed my hair. I dried my body and wrapped my hair with a towel and wore my bathrobe.

I walked out and spotted Tiffany laying on my bed. "Hey Tiff." I grabbed some clothes and changed in my walk-in-closet. "So, what is the plan tonight?" I asked.

"Tyler's friend is hosting a party at Queens tonight. Or we could go to the LightHouse. I heard Owen Lim is gonna be there. God, he is so hot."

"What is this I hear about Owen Lim?" Tyler walks in with Dino at his heels.

"He's gonna be at LightHouse according to a trusty source of Tiff," I reply with a laugh. Tiffany groaned as we continued to tease her. Tiffany has had a huge crush Owen ever since he said hi to her back when we were freshman and he was a senior. We were required to attend an assembly with all of the business management students and that was where we met him. Turns out, Owen is a close friend with Robert Williams son, Christopher Williams. I met him once in a ball held by one of dad's friends and the Williams were invited as well. I don't remember much of him as I was just 11 years old back then.

"We're heading to LightHouse, alright." Tiffany said with a stern voice, looking at me and Tyler, daring us to to say no. "Come on, Kay. We need to look hot tonight." She dragged me to my closet and started looking through my dresses. I grabbed a black skin tight dress thats a bit loose around my chest while Tiffany got a silver sequined dress that makes her look like a model. We did our hair and makeup and finished at just about 7 pm. We came out to the living room and saw Tyler has changed as well into some dark jeans and white button up shirt.

"Ready to go?" Tyler asked, looking up from his phone.

I made my way to put some food and water in Dino's bowls in case he gets hungry or thirsty while we were out. "Try not to make a mess, okay bud," I gave Dino a scratch and some kisses and he gave a few kisses in return. "Alright, see you later Dino."

"Uber's here. Lets go." Tiffany shouted from the doorway. I walked out of my apartment and locked the doors and went inside the elevator going down to the lobby. We saw our uber and got in and made our way to the club.

A few minutes later, the large neon signs of the LightHouse comes in the view. We got down and made our way to the entrance. The bouncer let us in immediately when he saw me as I'm friends with the owner. The club was raging as bodies danced into the beat of the DJ. We made our way up the staircase to the VIP area and found a booth near the bar and DJ.

"I'll go get us some drinks," Tyler shouted over the loud music. Tiffany and I nodded as we took our seats. "So, what happened earlier. You were basically passed out from your bath and that only happens when something bad happened," Tiffany asked me with a concerned look in her eyes.

"I told them about the job in Williams. They didn't really take it well." I shrug. Tiffany knows about my family feuds as well as I know about hers. The twins are set to work in their families company. Tyler taking the position of the Director for Marketing and Finance, as well as the president of their new hotel chain. Tiffany will be handling their publishing companies and will be starting a new fashion magazine because according to her, "The fashion magazines nowadays are too full of skinny models and things that just screams power and money. I want to make something that is fit for everyone and that can open opportunities to small incoming fashion businesses."

Tiffany grabbed my hand, "Well it really was a big deal. You will be working for Robert Williams."

"He stepped down. Christopher's the CEO as of 2 years ago. Anyway, let's not talk about it. We're here to have fun and celebrate graduating." I tried to shake off the sadness I was feeling and put a smile on my face. Just in time, Tyler walks to us followed by a server with a tray full of alcohol. We each grab a shot and clinked our glasses, "To us! Finally graduates and ready to take over the world." Tyler shouted. "To new opportunities that may or may not break our fucking lives!" Tiffany added. "To our future! May we not regret our decisions." I shouted. We drank our shots and started laughing.

Oh how I wish I wouldn't regret tonight. But I guess I spoke to soon.
