I just realised that being a Shadowhunter is kinda like being part of a cult.
You worship the angel Raziel since you believe (well he actually did but let's just go with believe for now) that he created you and you are here to serve his divine will.
And you kill and shun a whole species of creatures (that are actually evil and trying to take over the world but we're talking about how this is like cults) since you believe (they actually are though but anyways) that they are otherworldly menaces and defy the divine will of your angel.
Oh and you go around with tattoos (the runes and marks) that declare that you're part of it.
So yes, being a Shadowhunter is like being part of one huge cult that consists of loads of families from all over the world.
