Cindy carried on down the corridor, her back to the lockers so she could look both ways to try and spot the Little Wolf. She came to the end of the corridor, she could only turn right. When suddenly she saw it, the bushy tail of the Little Wolf. " Wait...wait", she shouted, running after it.The Little Wolf ran, seeming to get further and further away from her. It was fast, a lot faster than she was. Cindy stopped, the Little Wolf had stopped, it was looking at her again. She wondered if she might, at any second now end up back in the forest. Back in the forest, in California, at the back of her old house, just like last time. She looked around her, looking for a doorway or maybe a hole of some kind.
She couldn't see one. She was hoping this time that the Little Wolf might speak. Through all her curiosity she had completely forgotten she was meant to be going to the headmistresses office. She didn't want to, she wanted to find out why this Wolf was following her and what it wanted.
" I'll go in a minute", she had said out loud, as if she was trying to convince herself that that's what she was going to do. " This won't take long", she muttered her thoughts out loud once-again. She slowly approached the Little Wolf, it stood strong. It had to trust her, just as much as she had to trust it.
She stretched her hand out, getting closer to the ground as she got closer to the creature. So close in fact she wondered if she might go through it. Cindy watched as the Little Wolf lowered its head, she sat on the floor in front of it. The Little Wolf took a few steps forward, it's nose meeting with her nose. It was as if it was trying to see if she was the girl it knew, if Cindy was someone it could trust.
The Little Wolf opened its eyes wide, it looked like it was smiling again. It licked her face. She laughed, as it pushed her back. The Little Wolf had fur that was just as soft as she remembered it, it was the same Wolf. It was real, all of it. " I knew you were real", Cindy laughed, hugging her new found friend.
Cindy couldn't believe she was seeing Little Wolf again, but she wondered why. The end of lesson bell was about to ring any moment now and everyone was going to see them. She knew she had to move otherwise they would all see her sat on the hallway floor, talking to herself.
" What is it", Cindy asked, as Little Wolf smelt the air again, running off. Cindy followed, close behind, avoiding the teachers walking around as she snuck past the staff room, that was full of teachers trying to set up their classrooms for September. Little Wolf was leading her straight out onto the schools sports and track field.
She stopped to take a breath. " What are we doing out here", Cindy asked the Little Wolf. He was sniffing the ground, the flowers and plants along the fields edge. But the flowers didn't look so good. Everything was all brown and dying. " What's happening", Cindy said, trying to hold up the last little flower head that's colour was fading.
The Little Wolf had big wide eyes, it looked really sad. Was this what it was trying to show her. Cindy took out her water bottle from her back pack and she poured it on the flower, hoping she could save it. But it was no good. The flowers and plants were sticky, like a black slime had been poured over it. She stepped backwards, as she watched it move towards her. It was alive.
