Okay, so I'm not going to start by saying the cliche, 'I hate my life'. However, the truth is.... I do, very much and I wish I could runaway. Away from this life. But it isn't that simple.

I promised him I would always protect him. I will not let them drag him down to this godforsaken hell that has now become my everyday life.

They will not taint the pure innocence that radiates inside of him.

Melissa Carter is labelled as 'the outcast' at Edversatie High school. A usual school day would consist of insults being thrown at her because of her infamous hoodie or just being ultimately ignored by almost every student. As a result of this, her confidence had plumeted to rock bottom. Melissa's home life has never been very easy either, most of her life was consumed by abuse- Mental and Physical.

Ever since that one moment, that one wrong move of the person in the opposite car, everything changed.

For the absolute worst.

Melissa so desperatley wants to escape the life she has been given, but she has to protect her 11 year-old brother, Lewis.

That is her ultimate motive in life. To make sure Lewis has a bright future, a home he can look forward to coming back to, not a home where he fears for his life.

However that cannot ever happen as long as they stay with their Mother and Step-father, Derick. What will she do?

Can Melissa and Lewis ever be spared of this life they have been accustomed to for so long?

Or will Melissa's hope for a brighter future come crashing down?
