It was utter chaos.

The world had practically been shut down.

All power and electricity had gone out, planes falling from the sky.

Just looking out the window you could see flames of distant fires.

The TV's that were still available were being used to broadcast the situation at hand.

A terrible sickness had appeared from what seemed to be thin air.

People were dropping like flies and hospitals were over run with patients.

It was like all of hell had broken loose with nothing to stop it.

Countless amounts of people were losing their lives to the disease, with no cure in sight.

Until they showed up.

A hybrid species of humans.

Not soon after the disease started, babies started being born with strange features.

Animal like features.

A child who was supposed to be completely healthy could have bird wings for arms, fish scales covering different parts of their body, or bee wings sprouting from their backs.

No one knew what was happening.

They left the children alone for seven years whilst trying to find a cure from something else.

That was until "the doctor" came along.

She had done one experiment on a hybrid, finding different peices of their anatomy could help slow the disease.

After this news was released, as many kids were rounded up as possible.

Experiment after experiment ensued. Each one failing to find a cure, only being able to subdue the disease for a brief amount of time.

After the children started realising that each experiment was another life gone, they ran.

The hybrids scattered and went into hiding.

Soon after the hybrids went into hiding, hunters were sent after them. If they caught just one, they would be handed a hefty price. A great way to make money, when almost every job imagineable had dissapeared.

With the oldest of the hybrids only being seven years of age, many of them started dropping like flies, having been caught by the hunters.

A lot of this works it's way into my story somehow. But I think it's best we look at the beginning.

My breath hitched in my throat. I knew where I was going but I didn't know how I would make everything work properly. I lifted my hands up to my face to brush away a few stray tears.

My legs ached from walking for such a long amount of time, the heavy bag on my back filled with my things not making it any easier. I had fit as much as possible into it, knowing it would be the only supplies I would have for most likely years to come. I would have to make everything else by hand.

I felt squirming coming from the small blanket I was holding, and looked down. I slowly uncovered the blanket as I continued walking. There he was.

He was ireguarly small and had a red tint to his cheeks. White spots overlapped the red, almost resembling freckles, with pointy ears. He seemed almost like a fairy of sorts.

I smiled knowing all the pain I was enduring now would all be worth it. For him.

My George.
