Holding the annual LAPD charity event on the top floor of the grand hotel meant two things. One it was kind of private but two it was a nightmare to leave. No one would want to take the stairs unless there was no other option and then the lift was so big, everyone would try to cram into it. However, Buck and Eddie were so inconspicuous that no one noticed the silver box appear and disappear, taking the two men with it. " I can't believe nobody noticed the lift arrival." Laughed Eddie as the doors glided shut in front of them.
" Oh please", Buck sighed " Everyone was either to wasted to care or we are just ninja's". Eddie rolled his eyes at his companions last remark - Buck was such a child. He didn't believe it was either of those reasons and more to do with the fact that Buck was looked like he would pass out at any second. In fact, if it wasn't for Bobby pointing it out, Eddie doubted he would've noticed. And so, after little persuasion Eddie had encouraged Buck to go home (a thing that wasn't that hard once he had used the Christopher card).

Now that it was just the two of them, quite literally, Eddie could quite easily see the bright flush on Buck cheeks and the not-so-subtle grimace of pain that would flash across his face almost every five minutes. But before he got the chance to say anything, the pair were plunged into darkness and thrown into the cool metal sides as the elevator lurched to a sudden stop.
"Buck? You ok?" Eddie asked cautiously as the red emergency lights flashed to life.
" Yeh," He lied "What the hell was that?"
" Says here it's a city-wide blackout which means we are stuck but I have no idea how far between floors." Eddie sighed. The only way they would be able to check would be to ply open the doors but that would require both of them and Eddie knew that Buck was definitely in no condition to help. However, if he asked, he could finally get to the bottom of what was ailing his friend but also cause more pain. Well, there were no rules against that – especially if it was an emergency. With a clear plan, Eddie turned to Buck.
" I need your help to open the doors. If I'm right I think we are just below the opening to the second floor but I can't be sure if you don't help." Buck could hear the sense of urgency in Eddie's voice and nodded.
" Your Gunna have to talk to me Buck, this red lighting is making it hard to see anything."
" I can help!" Buck responded.

Due to their profession, it wasn't long before the pair had opened the doors to reveal a thirty-centimetre gap above them, flooding the elevator with light and confirming Eddie's theory about their destination. However, that wasn't the only theory that was confirmed. Almost as soon as they were done did Buck collapse to his knees in pain, his arms tightly wrapped around his abdomen.
" I think it's time we revisited my question from earlier, don't you? Are you alright Buck and the truth this time?" Eddie said as he moved to sit next to his best friend.
" I thought it was just a cramp, but the pain has been growing all afternoon and now it feels like I'm being stabbed from the inside out." Buck replied through gritted teeth.
" Ok. But what hurts?" Eddie urged.
" My stomach I think, but I'm not sure."
Eddie grimaced as he looked at the pain on his friend's face. "I need you to lie down on the floor ok, I have to examine your abdomen."
Buck nodded and did exactly what was asked of him. Almost at once Eddie had Buck's shirt untucked, unbuttoned and placed his hands on Buck's lower half. He carefully pressed on each area of Buck's stomach, constantly asking if it hurt. Eddie had barely touched Buck's lower right half before he was screaming in pain. If Eddie thought their situation was bad before, boy was he wrong. They needed to get out of there and they had to do it now.

Bobby was almost glad when Eddie left with Buck, at least he didn't need to worry about those two now. That still didn't stop the dread that began to form in the pit of his stomach. At least with those two gone he was only responsible for two others. Luckily for him Hen and Chimney were sat at their table, idly chatting. With a sigh, and a good few hour left of this fundraiser, Bobby made his way back to the others. If only Athena was here, he thought, as he reached his teams paramedics. Hen glanced at him and smiled as he retook his seat, but that was the last thing Bobby saw before the entire room was plunged into darkness. Almost at once every phone in the room buzzed to life, with the same message - A city wide blackout.
