Ambar's POV
"It would be better if Rina choose to raise the kid on her own rather than relying on him." I said to Kabir. He looked at me. His eyes were stern. So was his face. There was no anger on his face.
"Why so?" He asked. "That man did a mistake years ago. He is still paying for it. Now there he gets one chance to have a family of his own. A chance to raise a kid by himself and you are not in its favor." He said.
"How much can he change?" I said to Kabir.
"He is reaping what he sowed. He is still the same Kabir. He is heartless and he repents when he thinks that he is missing out." I said in one breath. "You favour him so much because of your own reasons which have to be absurd for sure."
Kabir got up from bed and walked towards me in rage.
"Absurd reason? That man is in my father's position." He said banging his hand against the bed post. He then took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. "After my father died my Mom quite lost it. She was always in rage. She would abuse me verbally or physically." He siad. "Ridhima was too small to remember anything. But I am cursed to remember. When she use to thrash me like shit Bade Papa use to rescue me. Every time. Once in anger she pushed me and I broke my hand. No one noticed only Bade Papa saw my pain. Are my reasons absurd?" I really felt bad for Kabir. He hides so much pain in his smile. Never nags of it.
"I am sorry." I said. "I had no idea about it." He looked at me. His eyes were sad. "Ambar, I know why you hate him. Perhaps we the older kids of this house are cursed to hate our one parent." I sat beside him.
"I am worried that Armaan will screw another kid." I said.
"He won't." He said. His voice was firm.
"You can have your reservations against Bade Papa. But I firmly believe in him. He will be a great father." Damn.
"I am not concerned just about the kid it's Rina." I kept looking at Kabir. He was still looking at the wall. "We know what sort of a husband he was first time. What are the chances of him being a decent one this time?"
"Fuck" Kabir said. I chuckled. Its like now he understood why his Bade Papa has been single for so long. I took a deep breath. At this point of time I know what lies ahead of Rina for sure. Ostracisation from her family but right now we don't know whether she wants to have a baby or not.
I looked at the wall and it was already 11 pm. "Kabir it's 11. Ridhima is still out with the staff call them back." I yelled at him. He then looked upwards towards the wall clock.
"Oh shit." He yelled. He called the staff back. We came out of my room and trio had dispersed. I looked for Kanwal Daadi. She was sitting in her room with a glass in her hand with a sort of beverage. Her head was resting in her hand and she was leaning on her right side. "Kanwal Daadi?" I said. She slowly opened her eyes and looked towards me. "What is it dear?" She said.
"Are you alright?" I asked. She smiled and looked at me.
"There are chances of you getting a half sibling how are you feeling?"
"I don't get a say in this." I said.
"To be frank Kanwal Daadi neither do you get a say in this. If they're smart enough to reveal it in front of you then you should not discourage them from becoming parents." I said. She looked at me as if I have revoked her birth right. "Sit." She said. I took a sigh of relief as I thought she would slaughter me for my remark.
I sat near her. I looked at the glass in her hand. It seemed quite tempting to me. "Can I try?" I asked. She looked at the glass and smiled. "Sure." She said. I lifted the bottle in full flushed enthusiasm only to realize that it is apple juice. I looked at her and she was already looking at me. "I must say, if this was a prank then it was quite nice." Kanwal Daadi broke into laughter. It was then Kabir came in her room. "Here you are! Jogi uncle has heated the food let's eat." He said. I nodded and went along with him. As I was eating Kabir asked me. "Will you never forgive Bade Papa?" I stopped eating for a while. I didn't answered him. I think I can never answer this question. After dinner I was going back in my room when I saw Rina aunty watching outside the window. I don't know what bug was biting me I went near her. "Rina aunty?" She turned towards me. Her face was red. Her eyes were red. "Do you need anything?" I asked.
"No." She said. I turned around to leave from there trying not to invade her privacy.
