“Radiant. Carefree. Dreamy. Adrien. The fragrance.” I sat behind my computer screen re-watching the ad again for the 20th time today. What’s not to love about him? The way his golden hair blows in the wind as he jumps through the clouds, his green eyes shining in the sun like emeralds, his white clothes make him look like the angel he is.
I often dream about what our life would be like together. We'll live in a house have two, no, three kids. We’ll have a dog and a cat, actually no cat. No, scratch that we'll have a hamster and name it….
My train of thought was interrupted when I heard someone call my name
“MARINETTE!”
It was Tikki, my Kwami, frantically flying around me trying to get my attention. Actually, it was all the Kwamis.
“What,” I say, wiping the drool off my face, “what is it?”
“We have a little situation,” Tikki says and flies to the window. It’s the Sandboy again, last time he went around and made everyone’s nightmares come true. A lot has happened since then and my nightmares have changed. I stumble backwards and fall over my trunk, scattering Adrien’s birthday presents everywhere. I grab my purse and head downstairs and sneak out through the door. I know it’s cowardly of me to run away, but I need Alya's help. There was no way I was going to get hit again.
During my fleeing I accidentally run into Adrien, he grabs my wrist and bolts for it. His skin was so warm against my hand, and the way his hair blew in the wind looked like one of the wheat fields I saw in America. Oh, how I would never forget our time in New York. It was such a fun time and scary, I lost Chat Noir and Adrien. I could've spent more time with him on that trip if I had asked him to stay. But that’s the past, and right now I need to focus on what's important, getting to Alya’s house and defeating Sandboy.
Once again, my train of thought was interrupted, but this time I slammed into Adrien, knocking him to the ground. Ugh, I'm such a klutz. I turn around to say sorry, but something stopped me. I guess it was the way he was looking around, it reminded me of when Chat Noir suspects a trap. We cautiously started walking while Adrien was frantically looking around. He stopped and stared down an alleyway.
“Sorry, Marinette,” he said. We ran east towards the Orsay museum and stopped at an old underground railway station. Adrien pries one of the gates open and carefully went through. I followed his lead as we ran down the narrow and dark staircase and through one of the tunnels into a little platform that was in the middle of construction, the only light we had was the flashlights on our phones and mine was about to die.
“We seem to always end up down here,” he looked up at me and smiled. I look at him and we start laughing it was funny, this déjà vu moment.
“Are we going to sneak into a movie again?” I ask, breathless. He laughs and falls to the floor; I lie down next to him.
We had been laying there for a couple of minutes when Adrien helps me up off the ground. His sheepish grin makes me smile.
“Why are we running?” I ask.
“We, uh,” he holds his neck and looks away blushing, “you see, I…”
The Sandboy just checked in. Now nightmares can begin.
Dang it, the one thing I wanted to avoid. I stumble backwards again trying to avoid the sand, but failed.
MaRIneTtE
A chill goes down my spine when I hear him call my name, and I know all hope is lost.
“No" I whisper. This can’t happen. I can’t go through this again.
“Marinette,” Adrien put his hand on my shoulder and I look at him, tears streaming down my face. “What's….”
Before he could finish his sentence, I grab his hand and we were off again. Me running through the tunnel and up the stairs and Adrien desperately trying to follow. I stopped and grabbed his wrist dragging him along with me as I head toward the Louvre. I found a shop, abandoned by its owner, and stopped in there.
“Adrien,” I look up at him breathless, he just stared at me all concerned, “please promise you’ll stay here.” I turn to leave, but he grabs my hand. I looked out the window and saw a flash of white jump across the rooftops. It's too late. “Adrien, please stay here.” It started to rain. I looked behind me to see him sitting there on the roof, his blue eyes shining brightly through the rain. I wanted to leave but Adrien wouldn’t let go of my hand.
“Marinette, what's going on?”
I take his hand off mine and look up to meet his gaze. I can't tell him about my nightmare, it's too much to explain.
“it's just a nightmare.” I run out the door and into pouring rain.
“it's just me and you now.” I whisper as he jumps from the roof and into my line of walking. I hope Adrien didn’t see him. Adrien can't see Chat Blanc
