Gage ignored Darian’s smirk at his impatience. It had been way too long since he held Brylee in his arms, and he was getting antsy.

He heard Darian’s indrawn breath and followed his gaze. He scanned the area and couldn’t see anyone past the small group headed their way. It was only when they were a few feet away did Gage realize it was Brylee. He stood suddenly and grasped her shoulders, scanning her whole body for a long moment. His heart dropped when he finally saw the look and tears in her eyes.

“You don’t like it?” she asked.

He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tight.

“It just surprised me. I didn’t think you could get any more beautiful, and then here you are.”

She leaned back and seemed to try to smile. “Really?”

“Yes, baby, really.” He bent and placed a kiss on her lips. “I missed you today.”

She beamed up at him. “I missed you, too.”

Darian cleared his throat, getting their attention.

Gage helped her into a chair and pulled his as close to hers as possible and then draped his arm over the back of hers.

“Larkin, you look beautiful.”

“Thank you, Gage.”

Darian grinned at Brylee. “Did you have fun today, pumpkin?”

“I did. Thank you, Darian, and you,” she said and reached for Gage’s hand. “For a great day. It’s one I’ll never forget.”

Gage bent forward and kissed her lips. “It’s just one of many.”

A waiter stopped by their table. “What can I get the ladies to drink?”

Larkin turned to Darian. “Can I have a Shirly Temple?”

“Absolutely. Would you like one, too, Brylee, if it’s okay with Gage?”

Brylee turned and caught Gage’s nod and then looked back at the waiter. “I would like one also. Please.”

“I’ll be right back.”

“So, how was the shopping?” Gage asked.

“It was exhausting,” Brylee burst out, making Larkin laugh out loud.

Gage chuckled. “I won’t make you do it often. I promise.”

“Good. You’ll never believe all the clothes Larkin made me buy.”

“Good.” Gage smirked. “It’s what she was told to do.” He looked over at Darian. “I guess you’re going to have to come up with another reason to spank her.”

Darian huffed out a laugh. “I think I can come up with something.”

Larkin gasped. “That’s not fair.”

Darian grasped her hand and brought it to his lips. “I'll make it good for you since you’ve been a good girl.”

Larkin grinned. “All right.”

They ordered their food and talked all through the meal.

Gage looked at Brylee and saw her eyes drooping. “I think I better get my baby home.”

Darian grinned. “Mine’s going down, also.” He stood and helped Larkin up.

Gage had one of his arms around Brylee and waved at Darian and Larkin as they got into Darian’s car. Gage opened his passenger door.
