When Emma woke up, her mom and her two sisters were gathered around her.
"What," said Emma, not able to find the right words "What happened to me Mom?"asked Emma, in a fearful voice.
"Honey, honestly I don't know," said her mother. The tip of her nose was red. That meant she was very, very nervous. Ever since Emma could remember, her mother's nose turned red when she got nervous.
Emma's older sister, Alicia, pulled her into a tight hug.
"I love you," she said, "And I will do anything in my power to make sure you are okay."
"I love you too," said Emma hugging her tightly.
Alicia was seventeen, Emma was fifteen, and her younger sister, Noel, was eleven.
"Sissy?" asked Noel. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine," "I love you."
"I love you too," said Noel, her voice quivered.

After three long days of doing nothing, Emma was finally able to go back to school. She had a great day! A boy named Alexander had randomly asked her out! The date was to take place at seven o'clock on Friday! They were going to go and see the best looking movie ever! Fast and Furious 7! Emma was so excited!

But as she walked into the kitchen to get a snack and a glass of water, her mom called her to the family room. Emma slowly put down the Jello cup she was just about to indulge in, and walked to the family room. As she walked into the warm, welcoming family room, she immediately started to feel gloomy and chilled.

"Hon, I need to talk to you. Come sit down, and I'll explain everything you need to know," she said. Emma noticed that as she was talking, her voice quivered.
"Uhh... okay," said Emma. She was nervous. Nothing was going to ruin this day. Nothing.

"The results came back from your blood test. They- they- oh honey I can't do this!" she shouted. "You have cancer!" she yelled, tears now streaming down her face.

"Don't cry, Momma! It's okay!" Emma said softly, but loudly.

"Cancer," she repeated in her head. "Cancer." Soon enough, tears flooded her eyes, too.

"It's okay, Momma," said Emma."Everything's Going to be alright," said Emma in a reassuring tone.

Soon all the tears ended, but it took a while, because when Emma told Noel and Alicia, they started bawling their eyes out, too.

It took Emma a while to process this information. It had been three weeks and she still couldn't process it. She had made three friends on the fifth day of school. Now she had to tell them. She had also gotten to know Alexander very well. They had already been on three dates.

She also made an enemy. Madalyn. Madalyn Jameson. Emma hated Madalyn because she wanted Alexander, and she would probably do anything in her power to steal him.
