'Cock a doodle doo'! The morning bird calls and as all the other animals start to wake up. I tiredly open my eyes and scramble rather lazily to my trout. 'Slop' as the farmer pours in a bucket full with something that looked quite disgusting, like dead fish mixed with sand. 'Wilbur?' I hear a squeak say. 'Wilbur?' I hear him say again. 'Can I have your food?' Templeton squeaks. 'Sure, I guess.' I watched the hideous rat scramble towards my trout. Over the years, since Charlotte left, everything changed. The cows grew quiet, the gooselings never leave mother goose's sight and hardly leave the nest. Templeton grew ferociously fat and chubby and no one wants to play! I guess we are all horribly sad that Charlotte is gone. But my little spiderlings still keep me company and I am grateful that they stayed. Unfortunately, little did a little pig would know, a tragedy was about to happen to the Zuckerman farm that would change all of the animal's views of this very place. Tragedies happening from animals, to the farmers and also eveyone's poor little friends. And finally, to Fern Arable. It had already all started, at the very beginning when everyone moved in to Homer Zuckerman's farm.
