On My Own

He was still shaken from his previous fights. How could it not be? Most soldiers weren't trained to adapt as much as he was put through. He had to get his mind straight, which was almost impossible currently. Matthew still was seeing the visions every single time he closed his eyes, the dreadful feeling they dragged on still lingering within. It disoriented him, making him feel ultimately... defeated. That was one thing he knew that happened. TECH had taken a serious blow, and they lost. But they weren't out yet. He had to take things slow and one at a time.

Looking in the mirror in his room after washing his face in the sink, Matthew peeled back one of his eyelids to reveal that his original symptoms were worsening. They appeared to be more veiny than before. Not necessarily pink eye, but more strained. That settled it for him-- he needed to go see Dr. Clarke at once. To make sure he was okay, and to see if he could deal with this. He sighed, turning off the sink and exiting the room and turning down the hall. The only thing he could hope for is that someone didn't stop him on the way to Dr. Clarke's. He wasn't that fortunate.

"You! Agent!" A superior sounding Texan accent man called out from behind him, somehow he recognized it as a superior, simply because it sounded familiar. Matthew shook his head as two men would run up on either side of him, one of which being the CIA Resource Officer, Theodore Mcfall, and the other being his assistant. Matthew seemed to keep his eyes forward as he walked down the hall, TECH workers repairing the base from the apparent bombing. Tenac did a lot to make sure TECH wouldn't recover.

"We have a thousand questions to ask you and you damn well better answer them well, or it's not only your ass, but this whole operation is finished!" Mcfall yelled at him in a stern tone, as his more timid assistant flipped a notebook. "Who was the inside man? Who's a snake, can you be trusted? Any leads on the rogue agent? What's your next move?" The amount of rapid fire questions just boggled with Matthew's already bewildered mental state. He wasn't really in a great mood to answer much of anything as of the current moment. He answered in a rather blunt tone.

"I don't know. Ask later." Matthew replied in a monotone way, sounding obscenely depressed. This made Mcfall and his assistant noticeably upset.

"Listen here, pal, I got about one hundred million top of the line soldiers I can call right now to throw you into the US. Disciplinary Barracks right now for refusal to answer to a superior! You answer me right fucking now, or I will have you thrown under the jail, along with every single god damn person in this bunker!" Mcgill roared at Matthew like he was about to pop a vessel, pointing at Matt while stopping. Matthew clenched his fist, holding in his inner rage from wanting to shoot the two in the head at that moment. He immediately turned around, taking a step at Mcfall and his assistant.

"Respectfully, sir, I don't have the time nor the facts to give you those answers right now. I'm still trying to figure it out myself, and in case you haven't noticed," He pulled back his eyelid to show the two his condition. "I'm on medical leave." He let go of his eyelid. "I'm in no state to give you anything right now, so i'm gonna ask you to get the off my ass and to arrest me, give me disciplinary action-- what the fuck ever you're gonna threaten me with, later. I gotta go." And with that, Matthew turned away to walk down the hall again to Dr. Clarke's. The two just stood there, blundered. Still, Mcfall had one more thing to threaten Matthew with.

"YOU WAIT UNTIL THE CIA HEARS ABOUT THIS, MR. CADE! THERE WON'T BE A SINGLE PLACE WHERE YOU CAN HIDE!"

"I guess they know where to find me!" Matthew ended the conversation just like that. He didn't care much for their threats at the moment. There wasn't much two suited men could do to stop a man who was simply trying to make his way through a hall. In any case, Matthew would go to visit Dr. Clarke once again. They'd check in on each other, and Matthew would go to explain what he saw at Qala-e-naw.
