Some days pass as the babies are slowly but surely learning the ropes of life, but for the 3rd egg, this would be a different lesson, The Mother of the batch lay in wait not willing to assume the inevitable, it's just late she thought. But after the first 5 days the father knows what happened but once again the stubborn mother refuses, refuses to believe that something so rare came to be. The father after a good days hunting comes back to the nest only to see her staring intently at her egg, he gives the children an acute bit of flesh as the babies don't need to eat much and rushes over to his love, wraps his wing around her but no responce, just a cold upset body, The egg no doubt had nothing inside.
At the seventh day, the time had come, the flaplings must be forced out of the nest for their first test flight, over a large deinosuchus infested lake, any failure would lead to a horrible, bloody and painful death by the crocodiles.Up first was the small male, our ptera, he had no choice but to do so, heisitation filled his body and he felt weak, at the mercy of the wind and his wings, he was scared but his father pushed him closer to the edge, Ptera looked down to see a dozen hungry crocodiles, All his attempts to run and hide were futile, He was barely clinging on for dear life but his twig like arms began to slip. He watched his father with a helpless look in his eyes, the thing he saw at birth now leading him to a slow death.
Ptera's body was nearly depleated of energy he had no choice but to jump off, he unlatched feeling everything at once hit him, Fear,Power, Wind, helplessness, but nothing as strong as his will to survive, he opened his wings with the sensation of the air going beneath his body he in no time straightened out, *BOOM* The sound of a huge deinosuchus jaw clamping together deafened him, the air he now felt was warm and rushed up his body, it was RIGHT under HIM, lunging out trying to grab the flying meal, luck was just barely on his side, it soon ran out as with no more energy he couldn't flap to go any higher , Ptera's options had ran out was this his death because he had to land?
