6. Heartbeat

After leaving Jihyun and his girlfriend, I got nowhere to go. I got bored of hanging out around Seoul. I wanted to go to the countryside, mountains, and the beach. Should I take a taxi and go there alone?

While thinking of where to go, I ended up at the zebra crossing. I was aimless and annoyed somehow. I wished I had more friends so when another friend was busy, I still had another one.

When the light turned green, suddenly someone beeped at me. I turned to look at that black modern car which was in the front row.

I was looking at the person inside the car and it was Jimin. I widened my eyes as soon as I saw him. I bowed at him and he rolled the window down. He asked me something from the car which I barely heard.

So I walked towards his car which was stopped because of the traffic light.

I leaned down to talk with him, " What did you say?"

" Do you want to get in? I will drive you there." he offered.

I was indecisive. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get in his car or not. But it's a great opportunity as well. I could use this time to get out of my comfort zone and get along with Jimin. So I could make another friend.

" Hurry up! The light is almost turning green." He raised his voice.

Not to waste time, I opened the door and got in the car. As soon as I got in, I fastened the seatbelt immediately. Abruptly, he drove off. I was getting nervous. I couldn't turn to look at him at all. Meanwhile, he giggled and I glanced at him, " Why are you giggling?"

" You seem nervous, don't you?" he asked as he was driving with one hand and another hand was on his chin.

" Uhm... honestly, yes."

" So where are you heading? I will drop you off there," he asked.

" Actually, I got nowhere to go. I don't know where to go as well." I winced.

" Uhm... why don't you ask Jihyun to hang out with?"

" He's on a date," I answered simply.

" If you don't mind, would you like to go with me?" he offered. " If you're still uncomfortable, that's fine. I will find an interesting place for you to hang out alone." He glanced at me and smiled.

I was thinking for a while and feeling like wanting to go with him as well but was this guy trustworthy? I stayed silent for seconds and then decided to answer his question, " Where are you going, by the way?"

" I'm going somewhere out of Seoul," he said. " I have some works there to do."

He might be going to the province. I wanted to go out of Seoul as well. It's better to go with him then.

" Sounds good." that's all I could say.

" Do you want to go with me? I will drive you there and you can hang out alone. After I'm done with my work, I will pick you up. What do you think?" he suggested.

It's a great idea but I wasn't confident enough to stay alone. I had no idea where was it and I didn't feel safe at all being in an unfamiliar place.

" You don't agree with this idea?" he asked and I turned to look at him.

" Uhm... it might sound funny to you but I can't be alone in an unfamiliar place." I lowered my voice at the end of the sentence.

" Oh really? If it's so, then do you want to go with me? It takes about an hour to finish my work there. So after work, I will hang out with you." he turned to smile at me and turned back to the road.
