Your muscles and tendons,
Your bones and blood vessels,
Revealed themselves to us.
Your body's workings are
Like a mystery brought to light
Under our gaze.
How little we knew!
How much you taught us,
Your body our textbook.
Thank you for your patience
As we searched out your secrets.
Our mistakes a chance to learn,
Our successes a chance to grow
Your name will forever be a mystery,
But we will never forget you;
As every life we save, you saved too.
We bid you farewell,
To rest in peace at last
Your work complete.
