You never knew us
But we know you,
Inside and out
More intimately than any other.
In death,
You taught us life
The skills to save others,
Not yourself.
We thank you for your lessons
They guide our hands today.
Though you never knew it:
You were our greatest teacher.
The shell that you cast off
Became a textbook
A tapestry of information
Wonderful to behold
Now we touch so many more
Using your lessons everyday
You touched these lives too,
Through these hands you taught.
