the sun began to rise over the horizon, interrupting alex's desired rest. the poor boy hadn't slept in days, unimaginable thoughts raced through his mind every second. stress constantly overwhelming his body. alex wasn't the type to take care of himself, he'd tend to avoid problematic situations, physical conflicts, and was overall a bitter, quiet person. alex had a thing for stars though, oh how he learned to adore them. they were so bright, and so pretty. they reminded him of a warm smile directed to one, special person. but they also reminded him of his anxious thoughts. it's similar to a million peoples set of eyes on him, but one pair in the crowd makes him want to shrink into a ball and hide forever. those intrusive thoughts were scary, but alex knew to ignore them, as they only tore him down.
alex propped himself on his elbows, yawning as he noticed the sun peak through his closed curtains. the alarm clock on his singular nightstand read 7:04 AM. it was early, very early. alex's eyes felt heavy, the lack of sleep recently has greatly impacted him. as he began to hop out of bed a buzz came from his phone, not long after his ringtone went off. that was odd. it was seven in the morning and someone is calling him. probably spam, alex decided to ignore it.
shortly after, his ringtone echoed through his room again, telemarketers never call twice. alex lazily walks over to his phone resting on his nightstand, reading the name. wilbur. alex heart thumped loudly for a second as he quickly answered the phone, stuttering on his words.
"h-hello, ssorry i didn't answer, i th-thought you were spam." alex said before wilbur could speak.
"no worries alex, i wanted to ask if you wanted to hangout today? i have no plans." you could hear wilbur's smile through the phone. the words felt so genuine, so sweet. alex couldn't help but smile like an idiot.
"sure!" alex exclaimed, almost instantly realizing how giddy and childish he sounded.
"uh i mean, yeah of course, haha." alex laughed nervously, his anxiety melting away as he listened to wilbur chuckling on the other line.
"alright alex, i'll be there at ten to pick you up, alright?"
"okay." alex sighed happily as he ended the call. it was the day, the perfect day to tell him. the day alex was about to overcome his long-lasting fear.
