Chapter 4

"Mother when shall we have another brother or sister?" Henry asked me. "I expect soon my dear" "Where is father?" he asked me once again. "He is out hunting" "When shall I learn to become king like Arthur has?" I got down on my knees to Henry's level, "Why so many questions my child?" "I am just curious of many things mother." "Would you like to ride your pony today?" "Yes very much so mother" I got off the ground and turned to Zoey, "Zoey would you tell Jeffrey to saddle Henry's pony, he would like to go for a ride." "Shall he saddle yours as well your grace?" "No I shall walk with him." She bowed and then left towards the stables. "Mother, what was grandfather like?" "Your grandfather was a wonderful man, he was kind and just and merciful. He was loved by everyone in our great country and when he died it was a very sad day for everyone." "I hope to be like him one day" "I am sure you will my dear" We continued to walk in the garden until we were sure Henry's pony was ready. When we got to the stables Arthur and Katerina were waiting for us, "May we go with you mother?" "You certainly may, are all your studies done for the day?" "Yes mother." Jeffery got the children up on their horses and we started to walk. "Henry my dear" "Yes mother" "Would you like a horse like Arthur's?" "Oh yes mother that would be wonderful." "What color would you like?" "I would like a black one mother" "And shall we get Annabelle a pony?" "I think she would like that very much" "Mother, isn't Annabelle too young to ride?" Arthur asked. "No my darling, you all were the same age as she when you started to ride." "Yes but she is small and fragile." "Then you and Henry must do your best to make sure no harm comes to her." "Yes mother" "Mother can we walk for a while?" "Yes Henry you may." I lifted Henry off his pony and turned to get Arthur and Katerina but Arthur was already helping Katerina down. My young prince is going to be a very good husband and king. Henry started running because he wanted to be chased so Arthur ran after him while Katerina walked with me. "Do you miss your family dear?" "Very much so your majesty but I do love it here. Arthur is my best friend." "I am very happy to hear that. You will be going home in a years' time to see your family and learn more and then you will be coming back to marry Arthur." "I am really going back to Spain?!" "Yes my dear, now go ahead and go play" She ran off to play with the boys. I do miss having a little girl around. I know I have Annabelle but she's still very little yet and she should stay with the nurses for a while still. We walked back to the stables to return the horses and went back into the castle for dinner. I walked the children back to the nursery so they could be changed for dinner and I went to my rooms to change. "Your grace, what gown would you like to wear tonight?" "The white one Maria and can you please tell Ruby and Ella I want Annabelle and Katerina to wear their white gowns and Arthur and Henry to wear their purple and white suits. I want everyone to know we are the white roses." "Yes ma'am" After she got my dress out she hurried to the nursery to tell the children's nurses. As soon as I was ready I went to the nursery. I walked in and everyone bowed. The children came over to me as I kneeled down. "Now we must be on our best behavior tonight." "Yes mother" "We are leaving for home tomorrow." "Will Isabelle and Mary be coming with us?" "Yes they will" "What about Elizabeth?" "No my darling, she will be staying here. She lives here now with her husband" Mia and Zoey stepped forward, "What it is girls?" "Your grace, the dauphine's chamber maid has told us that she has missed her course." "Is it true?" "The dauphine is going to tell you and the Dauphin tonight." "Thank you for telling me girls." They bowed and stepped back. I was going to be a grandmother. My daughter was going to have a baby of her own and I pray to god it's a boy. The kids looked at me and smiled like they knew what was going on but they didn't, it was pretty cute. "Is everyone ready?" "Yes mother" I stood at the door and waited for everyone to line up. Arthur was to be behind me with Katerina on his arm, Henry behind him, and Annabelle in Ruby's arms. We walked out the doors and met with Isabelle and Mary, Isabelle took Annabelle from Ruby's arms and Mary took Henry's hand in hers and we continued to walk into the grand ballroom. "HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND, ACCOMPANIED BY THE PRINCES ARTHUR AND HENRY AND THE PRINCESSES ISABELLE, MARY, KATERINA, AND ANNABELLE!!!!" everyone in the room stood and bowed. My husband, the king was already seated in his throne waiting for us. We walked toward the chairs and he stood and bowed to us. He came and kissed me, "You are stunning. Children, you all look wonderful." "Thank you father" they bowed and went to the table where the royal children sat. There were three sets of thrones, one for my husband and I, one for the king and queen of France, and one for the newlyweds. We all sat on our thrones, I watched Elizabeth get off of hers and walk over to me. "Mother" she bowed. "Yes daughter?" "I would like to talk to you in private please" I got off my throne and walked to the courtyard doors and went outside. I turned toward her, "What is it my dear?" "Mother I have missed my course" "You are sure?" "Yes mother" "And the father is Louis?" "Yes of course mother. He is the only man I have been with" "That is wonderful news my darling. You must tell Louis" "Do you think he will be happy?" "I think he will be overjoyed. You must tell him right away" we walked back into the ballroom. I sat on my throne and watched as my daughter approached her husband, they started talking and as soon as she said she is with child his face lit up and spun her around and they started laughing. This caused everyone to stop what they are doing and look at them. Now it was everyone else's turn to be happy. Louis looked to the crowd, "Everyone!! Princess Emily and I have some big news!! She is with child!!" Everyone applauded and cheered. Louis sat back down and Emily came back over to me. "I told you he would overjoyed. Now my dear, the queen of France is going to come over here and congratulate you. She is going to be wondering why she was not the first one to know. Now your chamber maid told Mia and Zoey and they told me but I told your lady that she was to tell them as soon as she knew if you miss your course. The queen will try and make sure your lady always tells her maids first, I will tell her that she is not to tell them. She is to write to my ladies as soon as she finds out. I always want to be the first one to know and she will tell you when she has written. As soon as she has written you are to tell Louis. It doesn't matter if you lose the child after you tell him, you are to always tell him as soon as I know." "Yes mother. I will always do what you tell me" The queen of France was soon next to us, "Emily it is wonderful that you conceived so soon." "It is isn't it?" Emily looked to me for help, "Yes we are very fertile in our lineage. Emily will have many more children to look forward to." The queen of France huffed and walked away. "Mother why does she not like me?" "She just doesn't know you my dear, once you have a prince she will adore you." "Mother there is not a prince in belly" "You are certain" "Yes mother, I have seen it" "Very well, as soon as this one is born you must get pregnant immediately after. You will have a boy after this one" "How are you so sure? What if I have two more daughters?" "You will have a boy next, I will make sure of it" "Yes mother" She bowed and went back to her chair. My husband leaned over his chair, "What is it my dear?" "We will be having a granddaughter my husband" "It is a girl?" "Yes" "Is there something you can do for the next one?" "The next one shall be a boy" "Well thank god for that" "Yes my love, shall we retire to our chambers?" "Yes I believe we should" we got off our thrones and walked out the door and retired to our chambers to make love and make another prince.
