Emile was right, they did need a lot of staff on for waiting. The restaurant was packed. Remy felt so excited but yet overwhelmed as so many people wanted to try out his food. How could he not be flattered? The kitchen was full of smells of soup, meats, brew, salads, even their signature dish that started it all, ratatouille. It was a bit more chaotic than usual with people constantly checking with Remy if their dish was ok
"Hey, Remy does this need more seasoning?"
"Remy am I cutting this right"
"I do I need more chives?"
Remy couldn't blame them it was overwhelming it's the big day. So much pressure just for one night. Sadly Emilie couldn't get Frank to come back so Remy had to step up on that part. He grabbed a pen and notepad getting ready to start taking orders.
"Little Chef!", Remy turns around to see Linguini standing there. Remy scatters towards him curious as to what he wanted to say, Linguini picks him up and places him to eye level.
"Hey, little chef I just wanted to say that I'm so proud of you and I know we can do this. We've come so far mainly you but just know that today will be amazing ok?", Remy was touched by his friend's words. To think almost a year ago he was trying to get rid of him. Who thought a rat and human would get along so well. Remy squeaks trying to show his appreciation for the kind words. Linguini smiles and pats his furry friend's head before setting him down.
"Now go do what you need to do I guess... I'll be over here," Remy nods and scatters off to take orders. Obviously, Remy couldn't communicate to humans but he still could take the orders for the rat side of the restaurant. And that's what he did. Back and forth giving them their meals and taking orders or getting a glass of water, when he wasn't doing that he was in the kitchen cooking or helping out. It was hectic. Hours passed and Remy needed a break. He went into his office and just nibbled on some cheese for a bit. Heh, how ironic he thought a rat eating cheese. Usually, he'd eat something more well more like a meal but he just was so tired and needed something fast. As he was about to take his last bite Emile walks in,
"Remy!! There you are I've been looking for you everywhere! Come a customer is asking for the owner of the restaurant!",
"What? What's wrong!?",
"Just come!!", Remy followed Emile into the human side of the cafe. Leading him to a table with a family standing waiting for him. Remy gulped, thinking for the worst. What could've happened that they needed to talk to him?! Did they not like it? And want to complain? Remy climbs up onto the table to be confronted with their faces staring at him with shock. He scans the table quickly and notices another rodent sitting with them. The rodent caught his attention not just because he was sitting with them as their family, but also his clean shiny white coat, pink nose, and mesmerising dark eyes I mean he couldn't help but not stare-
"Excuse me are you the owner?", Remy snaps out of the trance and faces the family he nods still thinking for the worst.
"Oh my, Stuart you didn't tell us this was owned by another Rat! This is wonderful!", the white mouse looks at Remy also shocked,
"I- I didn't know!", The mouse smiles a bit in the thought of it. Remy was astonished by the mouse and how he could communicate with the humans? Could he also understand other rodents? Or just humans.
"Can you speak as Stuart does?" asks the woman. Remy shakes his head, Remy finds himself staring at the white mouse again, for some reason...
"Can I understand you?", the white mouse says in hopes he could, Remy ponders this a bit before trying to communicate
"I don't know can you?", he squeaks. Stuart's expression looks surprised as he nods.
"Stuart ask for his name!", the little boy exclaims. The white mouse hesitates a bit, still baffled
"What is your name?",
"Remy. What's yours?",
"Stuart."
