"No, no, no... You have to bend your elbow. Look..." Thomas said and grabbed my elbow. At the moment, that genius is teaching me how to handle a gun, after a couple of years of praying and begging, he agreed to teach me. He used to think I wasn't strong enough for something so 'masculine', but then I hit him so hard he immediately signed up to be a teacher.

He approached me and raised my elbow so that my arm was now outstretched. I held the gun with both hands and looked with one eye through the small opening provided to assist in aiming.

"Try it now", he said, and I aimed the gun at today's target with full determination - three cans lined up on top of each other, in a small pile. I closed one eye and slowly pulled the trigger. As in the slow motion, the bullet hit the edge of one can, and a small smile appeared on my face. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

"Not bad."

"Not bad? I hit it", I said, refilling the gun with two more new bullets. I know I shouldn't spend this much, the leaders have banned the excessive use of weapons, but I seriously wanted to overcome this.

"Yes, but not in the middle", he replies, as I shoved the gun into his hands.

"Well, if you're so smart, let me see how you do it." I retreated behind him and turned for a moment to see how many more bullets we had left, when I heard two shots. I turned and saw the remaining two cans on the ground.

Okay, so he still knows how to handle it.

"Not bad..?" he smiled, and I was silent. Maybe I'm not as good as I thought...

"Yeah, right." I pretended to be important. I took the gun from his hand and refilled it. I stood in the pose he earlier showed me, and aimed again at the remaining can. This time I hit right in the center. I giggled femininely and turned to Thomas.

"Not bad?"

"Just dream", he said, but before I could think of a malicious answer, he continued, "Let's go back. It's going to get dark."

Stupidly laughing, I obeyed and picked up a box of bullets. We were close to the Gate, and it will be foggy tonight, so a couple more infected people will probably enter. Every night more and more people enter through it, sometimes I think we won't be able to find a cure - but Alby and Bella do their best to find it, they are like our gold, I don't know what we would do without them. We have too many infected right now, this virus really has no boundaries, it seems. Bella and Alby are doctors, technically, Alby is older (he was 40 years old when all this happened), and Bella has just always been interested in medicine and Alby seems to have seen something in her. He agreed to have her help him, in translation, a nurse. She really learned a lot (Me as a pretty proud best friend).

I probably didn't explain much about the Gate...

That gate is not exactly... a gate. It opens at 5pm every day (due to the supplies they bring us) - and closes the next day at 11:20am. And anyone who finds himself between those two walls at 11:20 is badly spelled.

They never explained to me why they bring us supplies during the night, and even Thomas always repeated that it was very confidential information. When we talked about these topics, I tried to restrain my curiosity, knowing that he would never tell me anything about it.

I considered all the leaders, except him, of course, to be seriously mentally ill. There would be far fewer infected people going hunting for supplies at night, instead of putting us all in danger when everyone's asleep.

In any case, we both headed to the canteen, where the whole city gathered to eat. Strange, but we're all used to it. Seven years is quite enough time. Plus, there weren't that many people in town, at most a few hundred.
