chapter 5

tanjiro pov

'is that your sister?' i asked the boy. 'ye-yes' he stuttered. 'hey whats your name?' i asked looking up from the girl.

'hikari' he responded while putting down the futon.

hm thats usually a girls name.

'my name is tanjiro' i smiled brightly at him 'and i have a sister too. and the same as you i'm doing everything i can to protect her' i told him as i put his sister on the futon trying to make it as comfortable as possible for the girl.

'say hikari.. are you hungry?' i looked at him and he shook his head no but right after his stomach growled telling me otherwise. i laughed and he looked down blushing

'where's your kitchen? i'll see if there's any food left' i said and he stood up and walked to the door. 'outside and then go towards the entry and at the very front then the left room' he gestured the way with his hand while explaining.

i stood up from my spot 'thank you i'll be back soon' i told him while ruffling his hair and walking out.

i followed his directions and quickly entered a room that looked alot like a kitchen. 'let's see what i can do'.

(y/n) pov

i slowly open my eyes and squint at the light in the room

wait- room?

i look to my left to see a door.

how did i get inside?

i look to my right and see my brother staring at me, worry in his eyes. 'onee-chan you're awake!'

i smile at him and sit up even though my head is spinning a bit. 'yes i am, hikari.' i look behind him to see shoko still curled up on a futon.

'good job, you protected your little sister like i told you' i praise him as i ruffle his hair. he smiles at me proudly.

then i heard footsteps coming towards the room we were in. i stood up and put my arms out protectively in front of my little siblings, my legs wobbling a bit.

the door opened a bit more and a boy walked in holding a plate with some*tanjiro pov*

'(y/n) you're awake!' he beams. i relax my body and smile back while humming 'thank you for taking care of me' i said as i bowed.

'no problem it's my duty to help others.'
